if a dog gets blew off or jacks after 3/4 mins everytime it gets on a good hare its not up to the job your doing is it? personally if they get blew off they may aswell jack coz they not good enough, obviously if there dog was unfit ect and it got blew off give it the benefit of the doubt but if it done it 100% fit running order and everytime it met mr right it cant be a top dog...jmo

one of best fast killers i've seen run, was missing loads on the fens last season not beacause it had no wind because it did. but because it was no good round cover, most of the long runs you get on the fens the dogs have to be good round cover to be able to stay on a hare for 3/4/5 mins

i dont like watching dogs follow hares across fens 10 foot off um doin all the damage in cover or dykes no. but on same hand cant bear watching a dog go hell for leather at a hare i know isn't gonna be took out in 30 secs, like watching a dog splatter shit hares in seconds but if they get on a good hare use there head set the hare up ready for when its reqady to die then take it out.......lucky dark destroyer perfect example some think he was slow but you can tell he was the type could run anywhere jmo

How do you know that makes a difference? The soil lol, just cos you think it doesn't make it so. Ok, what the hell, if I get banned for expressing my opinion, so be it. I've heard it said umpteen times on here, even baldrick has said it recently. At the fens you can see the whole course. This makes it the ideal venue to meet and test your dog. Not because the hares there are superior or the land has a good loam lol. It's the perfect coursing arena. I'm not saying the hares are bad, just can't see them being any better. i agree with you baw, its just if you put a good hare up on sma

if a part of the fens is gettin regulary coursed and hares are getting run for 3/4 minutes and missed there gonna be a lot fitter group of hares not to mention jumping a mile in distance, thats where u see top notch hares run, worth me travelling 3 hrs to see hares of that quality where if i want i can go 250 yards up road from my house as many runs as i want and hares are pathetic

Just out of interest, what percentage do you think this country has small fields compared to large open expanses like the fens? Atleast 90 percent of the uk is smallish fields. So by that reckoning 90 of the dogs are bred for this type of terrain but unfortunately the 10 percent left have the biggest egos. Fen guys don't want to run tight fields cod they know the odds are stacked in favour of the hare for a change and we can't have that. Unfortunately I've had my wings clipped so won't be participating in your interesting debate as much as I'd like, all the better I hear you say the more

Compared to the fens, no. A large field up here is roughly 30 hectares. Average field more like 50 acres. BAW,do you class from the northeast of england down to the ilses of sheppy small land? i dont i've ran it! do you class northwest blackpool, preston southport ect small land agen i dont because i've ran it! wud u class southwest of england small land oxford, hampshire? again i dont because i've ran it..........north wales is small land,from lancashire to carlisle is small land, there some great land at sterling nice big flat land............are you still sure the country is 90% small land? maybe scotland is, but not england!!!!
