  1. well they should be allowed to show if they have a certificate from vet
  2. i personnally will be having any puppies i breed docked as i like to see a terrier with a docked tail not a big hideous curly thing although this makes no difference to the dogs working abilities i prefer a docked tail it really p----s me off to have to put my hand in my pocket to pay a vet for something i have been doing for nearly thirty years with no problems and have to prove to the vet that they are working dogs and then you will probabally end up on some register somewhere for all and sundry to see
  3. the jack russel club of great britain which was formed in the early 70s some of its members pushed for the jack russell to be k c registered they chose 50 odd dogs for the gene pool and from these 50 dogs came the parson jack russell which was then k c registered in amongst these dogs was a lot of lakeland type russells so really the only difference is parsons are registered but they have basically come from the same origins i have known people that have bought pedigree papers and registered their white lakelands as parsons
  4. totally agree with topper i do a fair bit of judging and the worker will get 1st every time if it warrants it i have judged shows where a dog looks really smart but have no muscle tone and feel like a bag of jelly when handled
  5. great photos chucky keep up the good work
  6. looks like a good dig must get over there myself one day
  7. well i cant say i have ever weighed any of mine
  8. yes thats what i am saying scotty its a shame more people who work their terriers dont show them because there are a lot of smart dogs out there that work then perhaps a few more owners that only show there dogs would be knocked off there perch
  9. thats the black country earth & hounds i bet you could do with a cuppa of tay after all that
  10. well i dont think its bad paying a fiver to become a donater it would cost more than that to advertise in a lot of places and this site gets to a lot of people you can still look on the for sale site and buy stuff off it anyway
  11. the white lakeland is my type of animal hows he bred mate
  12. to answer your question sydney567 i have had dogs in the past that i have got rid of because they didnt work this photo is one of those he was a supreme champion winner but he kept going after rabbits which wasnt any good to me so he had to go and to answer the question about refusing money for stud fees i have done it many times
  13. well my mates got the best dog in the whole universe
  14. i totally agree with both the above comments i wouldnt keep a dog if it didnt work but i get great pleasure when my dog wins and takes the first away from all the dogs there that have never seen a days work
  15. I used to show my dogs too but good decent hard workers always get marked and loose teeth and break jaws and get parts of their ears missing, and their nose gets pierced by some red fellow and their lower jaw gets chewed off by somebody else, and then they don't look like they used to except for me they look fine as the memories of all their work adds up. By the way, show is just nonsense anyway, especially FCI shows. Those people haven't a clue what a working terrier is, and we have no working terrier shows over here because there are very few working terriers and those who really work them d
  16. i have only joined this site today and after having a look at some of the topics it is great to see so many keeping this sport alive i have had terriers for almost thirty years i have had lakelands blacks and white lakelands and worked them all i prefer the white lakelands as they are not so hard and headstrong i have had some great sport over the years and am looking forward to many more years no matter what the government throws at me
  17. yes i suppose it is but it is something i feel very strongly about
  18. having had a look through the forums it amazes me why people feel you cant have dogs that show and work we have had dogs for 20 odd years and won lots of supreme championships but all of our dogs worked you dont just have to have one or the other if our dogs didnt work we wouldnt keep them but we also like the shows and like to win
