  1. Shipping via RFD would be whatever my local one quotes me, usually £20-25 on top.
  2. Time for a clearout A Baikal O/U - strong and structurally sound, usual Baikal, £120 A Spanish Side/Side - plain and simple. Clean bores. £100 A Baikal Side/Side - again a workhorse. Bores are fine, usual age related marks on the woodwork. £100. PM me if you're interested and want photos Can be sent via RFD if needs be.
  3. Indeed, I'm beginning to yawn automatically when I open this topic. At the end of this topic (and the next one) all this wrangling is pointless, It will be decided by the incredibly specific circumstances at the very moment when a shot is taken or it isn't. Once that piece of lead is flying, there's no bringing it back.
  4. They'd just obtain an expert opinion and if that fell outside of the range you'd been shooting at, then you'd be in difficulties. "Public Interest" and the "realistic prospect of conviction" would come in to play a country mile before it got anywhere near a court room. For such a minor offence, it wouldn't be worth either.
  5. Two things that may influence your decision are the maximum range and type of terrain you have
  6. One thing with a .22LR, If you have lots of permission and you intend to shoot quite a few of whatever your quarry is, then up your ammunition to 1000. It's cheaper to buy that way and it only means a trip to the shop every six months at the very most. It would take me a lot longer than that to shoot 1000 rounds.
  7. Expect between 3-4 months for a grant. There is a national backlog of renewals, projected to be the same for the next few years.
  8. 12 inches is the legal minimum for barrel lengths, or 30cm it actually says. It must also have an overall length from stock to muzzle of 24" or 60cm. So in some cases, 16" may be the shortest, in others, not so.
  9. What length are the barrels at the moment and do you use a moderator? I had my .222 cut down from 24" to 20" and the chronograph results are just about the same range in regard to velocity, That four inches makes a huge difference when in tight spaces though...
  10. I just enjoy reloading, as Charlie was saying, it's therapeutic when you're in that rhythm and takes the frustration of not being able to be out shooting when the weather is it's horrific Welsh self. You may be able to pick up some second hand decent great to keep the costs down. As long as it's in working order, I've never met anyone that's said they've worn out a reloading press. They're pretty indestructible.
  11. Like anything Dan, you hit it in the right place and the soft point will do the job just fine. It's all anyone really used before ballistic tips came along
  12. I had three boxes of 10 Remington No.2 56g 3" cartridges given to me a few years ago, probably the best fox shell I've ever used but can't seem to find any more locally. Shot my last two, last week
  13. Might be an idea to pick quite a few up and find one that roughly fits. If you're 6ft tall but the gun has a 13" stock, then no matter how cheap it may be, you're still going to go away empty handed with a sore shoulder...
  14. Mine was supplied with separate skeet and cylinder chokes. Cylinder marked with 5 notches, skeet just labelled as skeet (no notches). Nothing other than 1/4 and 1/2 get used. Though I'm half tempted to buy a 3/8 choke and run that with 3/4.... I have a Miroku O/U game gun that's been Teagued to 3/8 & 5/8. Shoots like a dream, no need for anything tighter and the "true" borings relative to the gun by Teague have a really positive impact on good patterns. Worth considering
  15. Unless the rules have changed recently, then your sequence above would incur a variation charge as you are increasing the slots or rifles you have listed on your ticket, all be it temporarily. There is a possible way around this as below. The normal sequence for a 1 for 1 variation I believe is to sell the .223 and within the time period allowed (7days iirc) return your ticket along with form 202 listing the rifles you have and the rifle to acquire ie an hmr, However If you are distance buying a hmr and par
  16. On your Beretta, in case the manual doesn't explain the numbers or notches mean the following in old money. 1 - Full 2 - 3/4 3 - 1/2 4 - 1/4 5 - Cylinder/Skeet
  17. If you get rid of the .223 before you apply for the variation then it won't be a "one for one" and you'll have to pay the £20. If you apply for the variation, have it granted, sell the .223 then buy the new rifle, amount of firearms on the FAC stays the same and it's free.
  18. What sort of problems are you having? Group sizes too big or off the paper completely? Or is it shifting zero in between sessions?
  19. In my opinion, honesty is always the best policy when it comes to these matters, There is obviously no getting away from the fact you were convicted at court of a serious offence but there's no harm in explaining the circumstances and saying that you have reservations about the verdict however you have now moved on, Be prepared to show evidence that you now have responsibility in life, be that in work, kids, house, whatever it happens to be. A changed character is very important to show and sometimes shows more credence than someone who has nothing on record because without testing th
  20. May be able to date it roughly for you if you can take a pic of the proof marks on the flats of the barrels, Liege has made a massive amount of guns for all sorts of different reasons over the years and the main European proof house is based there, Could be an imported gun that was branded by a small dealer/blacksmith like is common with Birmingham guns.
  21. Crown of the barrel might also be worth a check and if the barrel is free floating within the stock, make sure it's not touching either edge.
  22. Providing they are firing blank cartridges and are not made, designed or adapted to to cause injury or become an offensive weapon then they're fine, They're not restricted by any firearm's legislation. When you say private property, are we talking residential property with others close by or a yard/farm type property?
  23. It may also be acceptable to split them up, i.e. have a second cabinet in a different location, so in the worst case scenario if one is found and it's contents removed, they won't necessarily find the other.
  24. Had a sneeking feeling you may not settle for not having a new rifle Good luck with it, post some results
