  1. Didn't know Winchester wasn't included, It always shot well in my HMR compared to the others.
  2. ASE? The majority of the baffles are towards the shooter behind the fixing.
  3. I don't see why I should expect anything less than well made cartridges for that price, a .22LR is much, much cheaper than the .17 HMR and I have very few problems with badly constructed rounds. Accuracy is another thing, but the cartridges are well made. It's all about scale. A HMR case is pennies to manufacture on a mass scale, as are the heads, powders and priming compounds. A centrefire is a thicker case to withstand the pressures it creates, there is far more powder and the primer is a separate entity. I don't think some of the prices you see for centrefire rounds is justified but
  4. Any adapter to a .22 rifled barrel would be an FAC as it's a S.1 Firearm, The gun would become one as well when fitted with it.
  5. I think CCI still manufacture the vast majority of HMR ammunition for Hornady, Winchester, Remington and Federal, Which is why it was strange that some cases cracked more with certain brands than others. I suppose if you're talking the millions of rounds they make for each manufacturer, each will specify it's own brass strength for cost purposes.
  6. I reckon a drilling would be fairly easy to acquire on an FAC provided it was deer legal, Nothing to say you must shoot deer with a scoped rifle and a 7mm is a popular deer calibre in Europe and mentioned on the Home Office guidelines as suitable, If asked why you want that and the shotgun barrels, if you had the reason i.e. for vermin, that would cover it. I can imagine the look on some of their faces if you said "Right, I want this drilling (what's a drilling they would be thinking) it's a 7mm with two shotgun barrels on top which I want to have slugs for" But then you've al
  7. Yep, the drilling is on the "wish list" unfortunately. Savage used to make a combination gun, 20g and .22LR or WMR. Be a handy gun that.
  8. What about the caliber 6.9 x 64 is perfect for all we have in the UK. LOL I reckon that be just fine be almost exactly like using a .270 win Far as I know, the 6.9x64 is just the metric version of .270 Only difference would be if it was the .270 Winchester or WSM. 6.5x55 is a pleasure to shoot and has some punch when it hits home.
  9. Looks like the US Air Force survival gun that Paul, They had them chambered in .22 Hornet and the expanding ammo that came with them was marked "Not for use on Enemy" because expanding stuff is prohibited by the Geneva convention. I've fancied a combination gun or drilling for some time myself
  10. I can't comment on the model itself, other than I know it's made in Spain by one of the sister companies. If it's anything to do with Benelli, it's R&D is done by Beretta which is about as good as you'll get. It'll be a solid gun.
  11. You'd have to sort out sewing your fingers back on as well, Massive potential overpressure which could blow the lot.
  12. Cleaning rod from the muzzle, it'll pop out if it's only in the chamber.
  13. There is no copper residue That would depend what ammunition it has had through it. I was using some copper plated segmented rounds from CCI the day before yesterday, I'd rather strip it all out and start a fresh.
  14. Whatever cleaner you buy it needs to be able to clean lead and copper residue rather than just the burnt powder.
  15. What sort of solvent did you use to clean the barrel? If it's been left dirty for a long time and potentially never cleaned then it could probably do with being squeaky clean. Personally I use Forest Bore foam but that's because I bought enough to last me a while so whether there's something better out there I don't know. As above, once cleaned buy as many different makes of ammunition you can and see which one performs the best.
  16. Reared a few Golden, Silver and Lady Amherst's in my teens from eggs that were given to me and kept them on a family member's farm who kept a lot of ornamental stuff, They were quite happy in among the guinea fowl
  17. Apply for a .17HMR, put the land down for it and don't involve that FEO in the decision making process, You'll get it.
  18. Depends how busy they are really, around the 6-8 week mark is normal
  19. In all honesty, unless you're a wildfowler loading heavy non-toxic shells, it's really not worth the expense. The wealth of components for shotgun reloading is not as great as it is for rifles and 1lb of powder won't go a long way in shotgun shells because of the volumes involved which means more trips to the gun shop who may or may not have that powder in stock which means you start all over again.
  20. No problem here Dix, I can't say I've found the same issues with mine but that's what the forum is all about, sharing experiences I don't really shoot that many rabbits with mine, there just aren't the numbers here. I usually use it for winged vermin so I have a bit more time between shots
  21. In what respect dangerous? With a .22LR or any rimfire, it's as easy to snip it in half with a pliers, has the desired effect.
  22. If it's a .22LR, pull the head off with a pair of pliers, empty the powder and throw away as separate components.
  23. I like the 20 for rough shooting because mine is lightweight. Like Paulus said, it is pointless carrying a 20 then weighing yourself down with heavy cartridges, not to mention your shoulder when you fire them through an already light gun. Never found the need for more than 28gr in a 20 or a 12 to be honest.
