    I've had an MTC Viper on top of my .222 for the last five years and it works just fine, I think it was £210 back then, I've dabbled with the really expensive scopes like the Swaro Z6i and such like but the only difference I noticed was a slight improvement in light transmission at night, but then if you're going to light up the entire field with a lamp, it becomes a bit pointless for the extra £1500 it costs you.

    The CZ 527 is a legendary bolt action. Every bit as reliable as the rimfires I've had a few.

    Some foxes just will not come in any closer Dan, they haven't survived for this long because they come in to a squeak from a recording, If the Fox was sitting pretty at 220 yards for three minutes, that's a luxury length of time and for a .22-250 is bread and butter, Sometimes a fox will walk away from the lamp and only look back standing still for two or three seconds, just need to be ready to take that shot when the opportunity arises,

    I presume it's in case the bird is not killed and carries that shot to the marsh or if you're shooting them inland, they may graze the lead from the field.

    You need non-toxic shot wherever you shoot wildfowl, Personally, I use 3" steel No.1s for Geese on the marsh and 3" No.3s inland over decoys, No.3s are alright in steel for larger Ducks, Teal you may need to swap down a size.

    Matthew, A footpath is still owned by the landowner and by agreement he allows people to pass and re-pass so if that's all they do, it's legal. If they loiter and disrupt a lawful activity then yes it is trespass, in fact aggravated trespass which is a police matter not a civil one, If their only intention is to film you to goad you into some form of reaction or disrupt your lawful past times, then that easily comes under harassment, however it needs to be a "course of conduct" which means it must happen more than once, again that's a police matter, There is an interesting case

    Doesn't mean he's right just because he's the "chief" FEO. No formal rank exists for such a post, I would guess he spends more time behind a desk than the others is the actual explanation. In any case, he's just an administrator when it boils down to it. Personally, seen as you already have your FAC, I would have challenged that, by myself at first and then BASC by pointing them in the direction of their manual of guidance which they're obviously paying no attention to whatsoever, They're bullying tactics by people who don't want you to have firearms, nothing more.

    As it says on the tin, If it's .22 calibre and ignited by the rim, it's a .22 Rimfire, no matter what the post nominal letters

    Perhaps not "argue" Put your views across definitely. Tell them to put everything in black and white and their reasons for refusal, definitely. If they refuse you a centrefire and you have the "good reason" and the land to use it on, send all correspondence to BASC or whoever you use and let them sort it out, Do not be bullied by a firearms department that know little about how firearms are used in the field. Take whatever someone from a firearms departments says about firearms certificates, halve it, then halve it again. You may be closer to the truth. DSC is bollocks.

    AR500 is the only steel target I've seen that you can move about and not penetrate, Immense power in these rifles, even at distance Used to have a 30mm piece of steel that got pinched some years ago, still make some hefty holes in that in the end.

    Can you just add a +1 to most of your posts, it seems you are taking the words out of mouth a lot recently! I just can't see something any other way than black or white, it's an advantage and a hindrance sometimes
