    Wotcha chaps! I've just been on a pheasant shoot (last week) and borrowed an over and under. It's just about the only weapon that i've not got / never used before and having enjoyed the day, I now want to buy one for next season. the only thing is, realistically, I'll only use it once or maybe twice a year, so don't want to spend shed-loads on one. Does anyone out there know of a 20 or 12 up for sale (1/4 and 1/2 choke)...if not, can anyone recomend a make / model of a used gun for rough shooting that ain't going to cost me more than say £350-400?

    Went out last night and tried out new .223 home-loads...55grain V-Max with 22grains of VV-N-133 behind them! First one was knocked over at 123 yards and the second at 174 yards...quite happy with them loads then!

    Speer spitzers are a classic and you won't go wrong with 'em. There're plenty others on the market that might outperform them slightly in specific circumstances, for example if you're shooting benchrest competition or stretching your shots out to where a .223 wasn't really designed to shoot. Frankly, for general varmint work within 300 - 350 yard range just about anything I feed my .223 seems to work about the same. That's one thing I like about the caliber - it's not real fussy about ammunition. The American Eagles are dirt cheap over here, I'm still working on a couple cases I bought

    Thanks guys. I've got a few manuals and i'm not really too worried about the loads themselves, it's the bullet that i'm most interested in. Have any of you fellas used the Speer spitzer on small game / vermin?

    Hey, don't mind at all Rich! Hopefully some of the guys will be able to to help us both! I'm using Speer spitzers on Tuesday (plus Remmy fmj's for getting it on the paper intially). All charged with VV N-130. I use Nosler ballistic tips in the .243 and found them to be fantastic...nothing has walked away from them so far! I wanted to try V-max and Sierra Blitzkings in the new rifle with the smaller rounds, but ain't been able to buy any locally. I'm looking for a round that's going to take care of a charlie, but not over-penetrate...got my doubts about the Spitzers, but I'll let you know how

    Hi, I’ve just bought a new .223 and am taking it up the range this coming Tuesday to try out some new re-loads. I’m new to this calibre and along with my other Section 1’s, I have it on an open ticket (professional pest controller). My main target-species is going to be old-Charlie. I’ve reloaded .243 for Roe, but am new to .223. My test batch is a mixed load of VV N-130 with various 55 grainers. Can anyone advise me / share their success stories in relation to favourite / most successful bullets and charges. Thanks, Lee.

    Hello to one and all! My name is Lee and I’m a professional pest controller based in Portsmouth. I’ve been shooting for the past 23 years from handguns (till the ban) to 308 rifles at Bisley. Although I’ve done my fair share of target rifle work, for the past 20 years, my pest control rifle-work has been limited to .22lr and more recently .17hmr for small stuff and an occasional .243 for Roe.
