  2. Could anyone who knows the boys(we go back a long way)tell them to private message me,FC wants there contact number,I had it but lost it.
  3. Took my young lad with me many years ago.the bitch came out with a fox cub,he thought it was a German Shepherd pup.
  4. Holding a strong dog at a dig he pulled hard and i Dislocated my finger,my mate who is a medic put it back in there and then,at the time I was a professional Musician making good money.I was going to specialists for nine months,as they said I would never play again(scarey times)they fixed me up eventually but it cost me a fortune. The joys of digging.

  6. Took two men digging with me many years ago,I pulled out the Badger bye the tail and they ran away, they were a bit jumpy ok.
  7. This B and T would bite anybody went to lift him from a dig(except me)he bit loads of people when doing his work( I would encourage people to hand him up to me LOL)he gave us many a laugh at a dig.
  8. He died from obesity,he was eating to much.
  9. Best one I had would eat every bit of shite in the yard twice a day, still looking for one to replace him.
  10. A dog at the end of a dig is needed like an ashtray on a motorbike.
  11. Fact is the best of these Staffs and such were about average in the APBT world. I don't see why posting the rules of a historic sport should be kept as private, hell you can find Cajun Rules plastered all over the web. What's silly about the thread? A guy was asking a honest question about what took place with his uncles dogs... Fact is plenty of men were coming up to the Midlands to cross there pits with (about average)staffs. As for six minutes, most trial men had shores for training, the good ones done a lot more than six minutes in training. This was all a long time ago.
  12. I'm talking about Pitdogs, plenty used them on quarry in the field as well as in the box back in the day. I understand now. This practice was scorned on by trial men and pit men, using a strong dog at the end of a dig proved nothing about the dog most curs will draw in the daylight(sheep dogs,German Shepard's,Springers,Kerry Blues)to name just a few.The other practice letting them mix it on the sod, most just did not like it or do it,it proved nothing either, again most curs will engage in this practice if let.
  13. DF I dont understand your statement they were tested harder in the field.Im not having a go at you Im just curious as to how field work could be more of a test than the shore?
  14. The trials were never about drawing the game,it was about working the game for a time limit in complete silence with judges listening for the slightest whimper. You think that's an automatic sign of gameness? Even some game Bulldogs sing in bouts...Can anybody post the rules of the old Badger Trials? A test for a dog no doubt but dogs were getting worked harder in the field than in the trials.... How were they getting worked harder in the field than in the shore?Because six minutes is hardly the same as a real dig the trials were good but they were more a place to meet like minded people and g

  18. Got spoken to harshly by a female judge many years ago at a Staff show, for hunting my dog on rats,I informed her they were not marks from rats but from a tougher foe,she nearly blew a gasket.
  19. Have to take my hat off to the men and dogs that who work the rocks, they are scary looking places.Personally I would be afraid to let my dogs in,but then I dont have to,but for men who work this terrain I presume they have no choice, rocks are all they have. Many years ago a Welshman judged the terrier section in Roscrea(his name escapes me)he gave best terrier to what I thought was a scaldy looking terrier,he told me afterwords it was perfect for the rocks in his part of Wales,so you learn something new everyday.
  20. I had a black dog years ago who would eat right through the spines and kill them.
  21. Pity they did not get five years each, plenty more like them invading the Countryside.
