  2. If it was legal you would be a proper feckin div to slip a dog on a fox at 6 month's old   I bet the same dog got sold on later that year No she is still with us best dog I've seen for her size here pups are now 8 months and killing them single handled ... so let me get this straight... last years pup, which would now be 15 month old at most... was takin charlie single-handed at 6 month, had a litter at 7 month, and them pups are already on the charlie??? Ur my HERO.. please please please teach me how to hunt, i'll do anything.. my bull x patterdale is 2 1/2 yrs an
  3. I can smell something..... fields??? sheep?.... no, cows??... that's it, BULLSHITE! ha.. never mind silver, it would need to be gold plated to fetch that kind of money, but if theres someone daft enough to pay it, he might hve a chance.. It's a shame that ferets are so common now and fetch no money atall, regardless of quality. It's also sad that such an intelligent and charismatic animal is so easily mistreated!! i've rescued many ferrets who were baught for a child and ended up living in their own crap due to a bite.. i'd bite if i were left in a cage week in, week out and never handled or s
  4. It's another year and STILL theres far too many ferrets being bred. Doesn't anyone get a hob done or pay to have the gill injected? It's hard to find real quality stock unless you're right 'in the know' and the ferret scene is bein flooded with crap every year.. For them that breed quality, for good reason, does it not piss you off when people expect all of your hard work for less than a tenner a kit? PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU BREED. If money's a problem, either find a mate with a vesectamised hob or DON'T keep ferrets! .. and that's my rant for today
  5. didnt get paid today as i gave my wrong account number.. will be sorted tommorow so i'll have some credit... moving house f****d my savings.. i'll bell John then.. my number is 07526003516, and its Steve (if u dont know already)... hopefully sort summet out for the weekend when i speak to john.. sound t-tyke.. foyrious..

  6. Some good posts. It aint a problem to me, and when he hits stuff etc, he's tough enough. . Just when any of the 6ther dogs or us do anything, its blue murder. I rescued him only a month ago, but I've gave him a lot of confidence but its gonna be a journey getting him tough. . If I ever can. .
  7. Don't give up and never get mad or stressed. Get something that squeaks lotd and try that. Walk away from the dog and try getting down on all fours. Always treat and fuss on return. Good luck.
  8. Thought I'd ask about the mardiest types. . I've kept a lot of types, but my saluki x whinges over anything? My bitch ran into him yesterday and he didn't shut up for ages. . I shut the door and caught his toe the other day and it sounded like murder. He whines if we stop walking. . My other 3dogs are tough as old boots but my saluki x is a pussy. . Is it just the saluki in him or just his age? I've always bin lucky until now, and he aint nervous or handshy, just a proper drama queen. . He's ten month now. Cheers
  9. I am lookin for a hospice with a view like that. .then I might have a walk over the fens.its sport!
  10. I can aggree with alot of that, but what will you do after a year of digging to your ferrets and you the hit some heavy roots? is a stihlsaw a musthave? i was taught by some old boys, and if you are filling a pot, i'd sooner have a ferret return and leave a dead bunny, than dig through roots.. it takes more energy doing that than the bunny would give you. When bunnys are abundent, get the ferrets back, move on and bolt some more to the nets.. locators havent even been around long. Everyone does it different, but i dont enjoy digging as a hobby... if anyone does, then please come and dig my gar
  11. it was me who had the pup for free and then GAVE IT AWAY when we couldnt get on, I gave it to an elderly couple at the end of the street and its still there, however Barney theres more lies coming out of your mouth, you were rang twice and didnt answer, this was because we had just caught you out with the KC with your claims of a/ being a kc registered staff judge, and also b/ claiming you had a kc ch whippet, btw people this is also the same person who never returned the tems machine he borrowed the ones that the bone man charges £35/week for as for give me a slap you know where I live, oh y

  13. i think you might need to change your ferreting tactics if you have to dig every time.. obviously we all somtimes get one in a stopend, but i never dig, i just wait until the feret gives up and comes back.. mak sure the ferrets fed, just not too full, set your nets after youve approached QUIETLY.. dont talk, then walk away for ten mins, and if you can, net up another warren.. then, go back and enter the ferret and if youve been quiet enough and dont smellmof aftershave or deoderant etc, you should increase the chances of most bunnys bolting. If the ferret is down a while, and you want to move
  14. Heel training is soo important.. a pup will stay/come back anyway due to pack mentality, but as it matures, it will explore further and further.. get the recall and heel training done while it is young and you'll have a much easier life and happier dog.. Also, feed at set times, AFTER youre breakfast, dinner and tea, and make sure it knows you are pack leader.. Also, after eating, take it out for a shite etc so it gets the routine.. easy way to housetrain. don't expect much, and only run it on bunnys when it's mature enough, then wait until next season to try other styff, otherwise you could e
  15. have to agree with the back of your hand.. so much easier ti mimick a bunny screaming in pain through being trapped etc, then slow it down and lengthen the call as if it's dying.. i wouldn't say squeakers are bad, but electronic stuff is just distancing yourself from nature in my opinion, which is the last thing a 'hunter' should do.. good hunting whatever you decide
  16. ONE FLEA CAN LAY THOUSANDS OF EGGS, AND THE ONLY THINGS THEY CAN'T LIVE ON IS MY WAGES UNLESS RABBITS, DOGS, CATS, RATS, BATS.... AND ??? FUR MATS?? ARE EXTINCT, THE FLEAS WILL SURVIVE AND BREED.. The mixy flea is a specific flea not your everyday flea Rabbits are hosts to this flea and no other animal can catch it,IF all the rabbits die so would this flea causing myxi, thats the way scientist formed it Y.I.S Leeview That might be true, but i was trying to make the point that disease cant be stopped by bad weather as the flas live on a host.. if the mixy flea is specific to rabbi

  18. My beddo X deerhound grey and my Saluki grey X beddo grey... Both less than a year old.. The saluki cross won NL&RC champion puppy not long ago, he's a decent type. Cant upload the pis of rosettes and trophys as its too big, but theyre in my gallery
  19. Just as many get away. Its unreal there. Am into me lampin but i have the permission on this farm so i just take a couple mates up each winter. Its a good laugh doesnt matter how many times you go or how many rats you kill they still make the hardest of men SCREAM when they run at you. . . If you ever need another pair of hands and two more terriers that are game as can be, then give us a shout next time you go... mine mark rats really well, they're tough as feck and i'm struggling to find rats up here.. too well kept the land is.. theres pubs with a few rats, but the dogs are struggling
  20. this is the pack I run the lurcher usually stays on the outside waiting for a bolt but if the quarry bolts back into cover hes straight in after it. the big dog lying down is a pointer lab x and no better game findin dog have i owned and he can scoop a sheep shit up without breaking stride. HA HA.. CRACKING LINE ..I don't know what they feed the sheep on these days, but what comes out the back must be tasty for a dog... My old lurcher would regularly come back with shitebreath after going missing through cover... five seconds is all she needed
  21. You mention VHD,Myxi and the bad winter.....Why did nt the bad winter kill off these diseases and viruses? Anyone any ideas? Y.I.S Leeview i think its the Dales that are most affected.. the bad winter did cause problems everywhere, but as you are all saying, they can even breed in cold, but mildish weather (now), and the fact they are doing suggests that the bunnys know they need to breed again before winter. The dales are wide and far, so disease has managed to spread far. The winter can't kill diaease as it's carried inside a nice warm bunny... it can halt the spread of it across the gr
  22. YOU ALL WANT TO BE GRATEFUL THAT YOU HAVE BREEDING RABBITS UP YOUR WAY.. MOST OF THE COUTRY HAS BEEN WIPED OUT WITH VHD, MIXY AND THE BAD WINTER LAST YEAR, SO FOR FECKS SAKE, HOLD BACK A MONTH OR SO, AS THIS WINTER IS SET TO BE AS BAD, AND OVERFERRETING MIGHT RUIN YOUR SPORT... THAT'S ASSUMING IT'S NOT PEST CONTROL YOU DO? GOOD HUNTING .. OH, AND WHER ABOUTS ARE YOU AGAIN , I'MIN CHESTERFIELD AND WOULD LIKE SOME SPORT UP MY WAY ASAP.. ATB, STEVE
  23. Well, i'm in a new area, there's no bunnys for the lurchers, terriers and ferrets, so i want a bit of ratting. I used to get good country rats a few years ago with the ferrets, but up here there isn't any holes out in the borders.. Where would be a good place to start, as the brooks not even holding??? I just need some sport for the dogs, i'm feeling guilty for not getting them enough.. cheers, steve.
  24. I think i came out with you once with my sonar tracker, collecting abandoned kittens for the breeding and conservation programme... I remember that mate. We collect, I think, 103. Let them go in that old abandoned barn next to the chicken farm..... ahh the memories. Mind when we collected all them minks and let them go in that sanctuary? How were we meant to know it was a bird sanctuary!!! Its all for the good of the animals............
