  7. I would guess they both cock birds,but I aint a expert, atb with them
  8. the moult takes it out of them gnash,as you know , I suppose some are fitter than others so cope better even under same conditions,one thing I don't do is touch /catch birds in moult,i like to leave them be if poss, but due to probs this year I had to let some go in moult and they coped just fine,so its another mystery of bird keeping

  10. cheers mule,its not ideal but it will keep me in the game for the time being,i am only keeping a couple pair of canarys,and 6 pates over winter,was sad to see the little flight go and my irish fancys,but got other things takin most my time at the mo,but I will be back at it by next season,with a bit o luck
  11. these are my next years team,got 3 cages for them over 6 feet in length,when all slides are removed,each cage will house 2 birds,best I can do at this moment in time as you know I have cut right down for the time being, atb.
  12. that's a shame I was down lane from them at a farm,nice area ,looked like some great country for hounds to exercise
  13. sorry DIDO only just seen your reply,yes mate I was staying at the farm next to kennels about 5 mins walk down lane,walked down most days,could see the hounds in yards ,but never anyone around,the only pub in village had loads of nice pics from old days,when the hounds met there,and one young man showed me some old pics of his g/father with hounds,shame we didn't meet the present huntsman.atb
  14. them are nice ko ,s I kept them a good while back,i liked the pure whites,great little fowl to watch when out on the grass ,atb with them.
  15. nobody then I only asked because I was down there last week,spent the week at the farm next to the kennels,atb everyone.

  17. don't know how far from you mate,but I used to go to teeside ,a bloke there bred hundreds,he was into hawks.
  18. theres all variations out there,i had large for meat,smaller strain for layers,in all colours,golden,white,brown bronze, I also had bob whites,painted,california,and some I cant remember the breed there all easy to keep,some don't breed as freely as japs,but are worth a bit more,i miss the quail,but not the buyers that turned up always a car full atb.
  19. they will lay daily, can be kept on chick crumb,do ok in small hutch ect, the cocks will fight if housed together,i had mine on wire floors,and lights on timer in winter and got hatching eggs all year round down side they smell if kept in big numbers
