  1. I don't know a lot about the mules,i had 17 one year and they were all very dull in colour ,very basic but I enjoyed them and some sang very nice, not finch only I might add
  2. Depends on the bird,my old goldie cock was a poor singer and i got a cd to play to the young uns,but the goldie cock i have now is louder, sings harder and better than any of my mules do,the thing with a mule is they will sing all year round but a native cock really only sings during the breeding season hence why folk breed them so they can have a singing bird all year round but as for a challenge there the easiest of birds to breed or at least they have been for me I agree fireman they are fairly easy to produce, was thinking more of a challenge to breed them colour wise ,to get the rare
  3. Tuffty when I worked in Essex I would ring home and say it was warm,t shirt weather and they didn't belive it cos it was cold up home
  4. that's a bad doo mate, the weather near me is mental,my son 10 mile from me had no snow this morning, rang him and it was sunny at his
  5. just got the birds paired up and on eggs, always hang back abit because its cold round these parts, then gets up today and its snowing, thats about my luck
  6. think there muled for the challenge, the colour of a mule makes a big difference,to a lot of folk,i like to see a nice goldie to be honest.
  7. what use are they running with hounds? think its as in following hounds over the land on foot ,couple 2 together and away ya go,then your there with the hounds when needed
  8. that's a real smart job ,would look well in bottom of my garden
  9. don't keep me waiting much longer ,get some birds in
  10. its amaizing how they can strike and hold the birds through the cage bars, one even took the feet off a canary in a outdoor flight I had through the small square netting. stopped that by adding plastic to the sides
  11. it should have been pts, unless the mates son is a burglar
  12. I know the jap quail are the same,if they get chance they drowned themselves,or hit the roof and scalp themselves
  13. fireman did yours sit there own eggs, cos most don't ,some I had would sit most just lay allover the shop.
  14. know what you mean, only prob with mixed collection is breeding time ,all shapes and sizes will be produced, at least with one type the young will look half decent, but everyone to there own, my kids always liked the glosters due to the funny caps ,the grandkids still say get some more of them with funny hair, lol
  15. what type are you thinking of keeping ,or are you going for a few diff breeds.
  16. bit gruesome but just to show not to underestimate the hen sparrow hawk, this is the scene in the birdroom after my son scared the spar out,did me a goldie cock also but no pics I was too upset,i had just paid for it, lol
  17. nothing wrong with that mate ,a very nice job, hope you both enjoy, atb.
  18. nice mate , will look great when its full of birds
  19. that's a old one ,when I was a kid every body in village had allotments with pigeons ,the racer lads and rollers ect, every garden had a old tank and a few white fantails, for droppers,
  20. I did buy extra Lab the ones it ate, weird thing is it did not bother my yellow irish and they did not seem upset ,one was on eggs and still is only a cage above the carnage, that shows how often they see a spar
  21. LOL the thought has crossed my mind several times fireman, but theres shit loads around me,could become a full time job,
  22. I know how you feel mate,i have posted pics before on here ,the spar comes and sits on my flight trying to find a way in,at some point every week,it was a real pest when my son had pigeons here, but that's life atb.
  23. its shit fireman, but my own fault, just forgot to close mesh door, its seen it chance and took it,son was wanting to take action to make sure it don't come again ,but I see it as nature, not the birds fault I will have to stand the loss of a few quid,
  24. forgot to add I did take a pic on phone as evidence if the kids come I will let them put a pic of the damage on, cant belive it went inside the shed, and killed birds that I bought in for a change, so its back to the plain old irish for this season.atb
