  3. sundays ferreting Feb 21st, 2010, 6:52pm sundays ferreting. me buck bucks son and brother in law set of for a days ferreting it was a cold frosty start that soon turned to snowy rain not the best of days. we decided to ferret a big long hedge that a farmer has been pestering me to do for a while i have seen a lot off rabbits along this hedge when ive been out lamping so i thought we should be in for a good day apart from the bramble we had to contend with . all went well but we had a fair bit of digging as thay were not bolting that well . all in all we ended up with 24 good clean
  4. hello ferrets can start behaveing like this if you rush or try to grab at them when thay come to the mouth off a whole you should pick up the ferret slowly and calmly many ferrets get this problem when people are lunging a them whch makes them reluctant to come out i have bought many ferrets over the years that work fine and are very tame but have the same problem as yours due to being messed up by the learner ferreters grabbing at them . as for intiseing the ferret out with a rabbit it will work for a while but the ferret soon comes wise to this and in my opinion only makes it worse wh

  11. Good point! Are you doing things right when the ferret is in the hole? You know, things like staying dead quiet, staying out of view of the holes, not smoking, not walking round etc. No disrespect intended though! good advice maltenby keep quiet dont talk while netting up stay out of view of the holes the more noise you make above ground the more reluctant thay are to bolt as for the hob i think thay can lay up more because off there size thay can hold rabbit much easier than a small jill but i have had small jills that lay up just as much as a big hob keep up the good work

  14. hello mate the red fillter is used to find your rabbits in the field. not being as bright as the white beam you will not scare the rest off the field in while looking for them . use the red fillter to find um get as close as you can then switch to the white beam when your rabbit makes off the closer you can get to the rabbit the better chance your dog will have hope this helps ya happy lamping
