Some people really take everything to heart on here, Bless

Found myself on abit of forbidden ground myself yesterday, no better way to spend a christmas morning

In all fairness lads if you put into context how many people who drink and end up in trouble and the amount of people that smoke dope and end up in trouble i reckon it would definatly sway towards the side of dope. I know loads of people that get a right feed of beer every friday and saturday night (myself included) and they just get a bite to eat and go home to bed. I also know loads of recreational dope smokers who manage to keep there lives in order and stay out of trouble. But your only kidding yourself if you think that youngsters smoking a few blunts doesn't lead to bigger and worse thin

Would love a trip to the fens someday, looks terrific sport

Ah yeah bless him, ya need a bit of luck when it comes to smuggling drugs

Dont do the crime if you can't do the time, especially in countries that will dicipline you like the asian ones

Yeah and its such a pitty, because even though they may slip five dogs on hare they kill f**k all. Half thier mongrels are just bags of bones. Its more to do with them robbing, breaking stuff and frightening gamebirds out of areas with there non-stop shouting and hull hulling
-
Blue one and Neil you have both hit the nail straight on the head. If more lads did the decent thing and walked the feilds with a mongrel or two and went home after they had a couple of runs there would be alot more sport to go around. I think lads who are netting for money are putting fair dents in the hare populations of certain areas because they are not releasing them back into the areas they came from. But birds of prey have definatly become more plentiful over the years and they will take out as many leverets as they can find, and i know alot of lurcher lads disagree with how organised c

Its nice to see hares in those numbers about but inbreeding will eventually take its toll on them in places where they are so plentiful, introducing hares from different areas to dilute the blood is the obvious answer but our friends in the Parks and Wildlife Services obviously know better . Pitty that the people that actually have great knowledge about hares by watching and hunting them day after day are shunned while the people who read a few books in college about hares are in charge.

Quick Video showing the Hares around the Belfast Airport. Nice to see how they've adapted

I think you'll find that these 'rules' you talk about were around well before the 'match men' you talk about ever came about. Every animal in the contryside deserves respect you just have to take the time out to see why then maybe you'll understand. Each to there own i suppose but i myself will always frown upon hares being run under the lamp and the heavy snow and such, and just for the record i'm no 'match man' either. Just a lad that loves hares and dogs watching veiw videos on you tube from the 80s and not one hare was giving 100 yards head start they where all kick ups . You say that

That dog in your avatar will never catch a hare...........not with that cullinder on his face I'm afraid that ain't my dog, and i doubt whoever owns it couldn't care less whether it catches hares or not, as long as it wins its course its happy days Wins it's course put a tesco bag on a piece of string then let the feckers chase that. Thats the very arguement that got hunting people on your side of the water into the mess there in now The mess we're in now????? Yeah the whole ban thing that means you can't hunt in peace anymore.. -

In certain places near me I have seen them with infections around thier mouths. It seems to be near where there are sheep aswell so i'm thinking it could be orf? Not sure if its affecting them badly as most seem healthy other than the infected area around the mouth, then again it could just be from having there mouths resting in the wet grass all day. Has anyone else seen this?
-
I reckon lads go out and run them in the snow for the same reason they run them in the beam. Not many lads like to put the time in walking fields to find a hare so they just go out when its easiest to find them.
-
I know in Ireland lads netting hares and not returning them has played a huge part, at the end of the day if most people see 3 hares and kill one they are doing well, if a lad out with nets and a lamp sees 5 he's more than likely going to get 5 if he's anygood.
-
I realize that more of the people who run hares in the snow and lamp them don't see anything wrong or unsporting about it, and to them it definatly seems to be more about the kill than the course. But killing four in the snow just means your going to have to do more walking the next day to get one decent run for yourselves. Don't make sense to me
