  1. i had an invite for a days fishing this week to a south wales shore mark,to say the fishing was good imo would be an understatement, fishing 3 hours up and 2 back down on the high tide, over 90 fish were caught between us,all fish were either taken on rag worm or squid, with the summer spieces still about and the winter species just arriving a mixed bag was had, thornback ray, whitting, codling, bass, small els, flounder and pouting were caught, such was the bite every cast,we ended up using strips of the whitting we caught as bait,as we were running out quickly....the majority of fish were all returned
  2. had a 96 model for around 5 years, never let me down.....iff it wernt for the fact that the boot space is small i wouldnt have changed it...boimb proof....not the luxury of the other 4x4 about, but went well off road, around 30 to the gallon.........
  3. 50/50 shooting then,i still wouldnt be disapointed with that..lol...
  4. 156 for 173 on the clicker, well in my book that is good shooting, well done
  5. for the crows we were using a rotary with 3 decoys out, tucked up behind a hedge as the birds were coming from behind and trying to take them as they circled to drop in....the pigeons were taken over a pattern of just shell decoys.....
  6. shell i got a 2oo1 model, had it for a few years now,and apart from the gauze filter getting a tad blocked once, never had a problem with it.........
  7. been at the crows and pigeons as of late, but they certainly starting to get wise..
  8. zig rigs are ok mate.....try using a marker float set up to cast about in front of you and use it to see how thick the weed is,also to see iff you can find the odd clear patch amongst the weed,by using braided line it will give you a better feel as to the make up of the bottom..ie mud, gravel etc....p.v.a bags are usefull as well, make sure to squeeze all the air out of the bag once filled.this should get you down through the weed and prevent any snag ups with your rig ...trial and error mate, but i would definatelly use a marker float set up first to see whats in front of me...............good l
  9. no angling preasure, and twenties in it your a lucky man
  10. fish looks in good nick, and a bonus to get it off the surface......welldone
  11. i can remember seeing this a while back now,2 merle dogs etc,
  12. great stuff what type of decoying were you using,shells,rotary..etc
  13. at first just set up a single crow decoy in the field and used a crow caller, got 2 birds straight away, then set up the rotary with the 2 birds on it,sometimes depending on how the birds are reacting,we then get a few using the rotary, and remove it using the dead birds only when they get a bit spooky,on this particular day though they seemed happy to fly in with the rotary out all day and approx 6 or 7 dead birds used as decoys..
  14. out this weekend gone trying to get to grips with some crows that are feeding on a weather damaged field of corn,we got 2 for the rotary machine straight away,so set it up and with the aid of the crow caller a mixture of jackdaws and carrion crows started trickling in,i aint the best shot by anyones standards and for the first hour or so,i would say i was shocking, started to get into things a little later on,and finally ended up with just over 40 crows and the odd pigeon thrown in...........

  18. well i"m envy mate,i would love to be able to have a day on the boat.....a few years back my brother worked in the channel islands,i visited once or twice,..the ferry was bad enough, and people were saying it was a gentle crossing, well not for me it wernt sleeping tablets, travelling tablets, and a few pints,i was dead to the world, and when i reached there only to find my brother had booked a day on a charter boat....i can picture him now bobbing up and down on the front of the boat with a bacon sandwich in one hand and a can of lager in the other shouting.."with a grin on his face"whats the mat
  19. a short notice phone call today seen me wetting a line once more, the lad who took me said there were a few bass being caught, and true to form."he aint usually wrong with his information".we had a go....well the weather was good and armed with a box of squid each, we set up and cast out...about half way up the incoming tide i had cracking slack linner of a bite resulting in a bass of around 3 and a half pounds which took a whole squid mounted on a pulley rig with two size 4/0 hooks on...
  20. rely depends on where your fishing....boat or sore..? rough ground etc.........boat i cant help you with,i aint got the legs for that shore fishing i always use a pulley rig for the majority of my fishing, rough or smooth ground, when a fish is hooked the weight of the fish pulls the lead clear of the sea bed, giving you less chance of snagging on the way in
  21. that conger is a hell of a fish ...elisderyn,are you out on the boat or shore fishing.,reason i ask is there is some good plaice being caught from around the area lately
  22. it may be due to spawning...were the fish you seen dead spawn bound in any way..? another theory..as the place been stocked in recent weeks
  23. wilf is correct in what he is saying, you dont need to add that much flavouring, take for instance, tiger nuts ,hemp etc,not much smell, but great carp attractors,...an overdose of attractor mat be added, for example, the use of single hookbaits with no free offerings, which can be effective on occasions, but the use of bait dips can be used to achieve this, the trick is not to over complicate matters, try a few out.like wilf said,strawberry.........,tutti frutti, scopex, they been about for years and are still catching a hell of a lot of fish, soon as you find one you feel confident with and are catching
