  1. Full house & there wasn't even a call bird!
  2. Money isn't everything mate............that's what I keep telling my missus anyway!! Mind you, I also tell her a small willy is just as much fun - don't think she believes that one either!!!! Stay safe & happy
  3. I've no seen a photo of Gav but you can't both be the Oliver Hardy!
  4. Doing rounds this morning, see crows circling & dropping on something on Crest of hill. Worried it a lamb kicked the bike up a gear, get to hill little vixen just laying there with ewes with lambs at foot dotted about her. Hammered accelerator and chased her down the hill. Up to 32mph I was pretty much on her, shouting at her went full on redneck. Frightened the life out of her she crashed through a gap in netting you wouldn't believe she'd fit through. Beautiful colour mind, really dark chestnut. Gun back on morning rounds me thinks.
  5. When I first moved to England I worked on & eventually managed a outdoor pig breeding unit. Had 12 lads working for me, couple of locals but rest were polish, slovakian & Lithuanian. Had a few fellas come because they'd put down on their dole thing that they liked being outdoors so job centre arranged interviews for them. One chap got out of car, saw size of pigs apologised but said "no way look at size of that focker" and drove off again. I only hired people with right attitude.
  6. I'd imagine veg harvest would be too much like graft for your average student, bloody back breaking.
  7. Now you're talking. Lambs pay my wages but in our fridge we prefer hogget, those extra 6 months on grass make all the difference.
  8. Hope your right mate. All our lamb & beef goes through our farmshop or to local pubs, restaurants & a couple of schools. We don't sell to markets, everything goes dead so we are absolutely reliant on people buying local, basically it pays my wages. Have seen a astronomic increase in custom in the shop these past 3 weeks. Really hope some of the new customers can see/taste the quality and the fact they can see the animal's right there in front of them. Our cattle are slaughtered about 35 minutes away, and the lambs are killed in same village as farm, about 0.75 food miles!!
  9. Lambed his first batch (indoor) January/February. Second batch (outdoor) due from April 6th. So yeah I'm still working as per. Obviously not a key worker, but as far as the ewes are concerned I'm pretty essential!
  10. Hey good to hear from you mate, hope you're keeping well. How is the virus affecting your plans for next season? Heard some already talking of either putting less down or offering less days already. Stay safe mucker
  11. Apparently there is an email doing the rounds warning of the dangers of eating pork & it contributing to the spread of covid-19. Do NOT open this email. Its spam.......
  12. Shoes on other foot for me; my daughter comes home saying how naughty some boys have been ("its always the boys daddy") and I get on my high horse about them disrupting class etc. Then my missus reminds me of how much of a massive gobshite I was at that age!
  13. Haha I did this. Sat on back seat of school bus (yeah cool kid) old bus with long/wide seats in front with a metal arch as back rest. Girl sat in front of me (Faye something she was English in north Wales so fair game!!) managed to weave magnesium ribbon into her hair and wrap around the metal seat rest. Needless to say bus had to be pulled over due to screaming. That cost me a weeks suspension & and a term of lunchtime detention & litter duty. Still made me a cult hero for about a week!!!
  14. And I suggest you don't start your posting on this forum by digging up an ancient thread & having a pop at people who were just voicing their opinions & trying to give the OP different experiences. Nob head.
  15. A mate of mine in college use to swear that he once caught a bat when out fly fishing!! Mind you he did smoke a lot of pot!
  16. Testing is carrying on as normal. If coronavirus affects you or vet in some ways that means you don't get them tested in time then you will get placed under movement restrictions as normal BUT you won't lose your BPS and you can still put a claim in.
  17. Haha yeah that would be about right! People still want lamb chops though mate!
