  1. Our tractor man/feeder used to carry out running repairs on them with bare hands. Reckoned you only had to be quick when joining the two snapped ends together as you were filling the gap in the circuit. Loon. But he was Australian!
  2. We use hotshock at work. Sheep fleece notorious for insulating any shock but the hotshock seems to work on them, so would deffo fry Charlie's nose. https://www.ukcountrystore.co.uk/acatalog/HotSHOCK-A50-Electric-Fencing-Battery-Energiser.html Few years ago when I worked on the pigs, we had all them behind mains fences. Repairing one day, on my knees, bent over i accidentally touched my nose onto top wire; bang!! Like getting kicked in face by draft horse!! Missus reckons it killed few of my remaining brain cells!!
  3. Some people would pay extra for that type of thing.....or so I'm told......
  4. Sure plenty of us did the big farmland bird count earlier in the year, the butterfly version starts today until first week in August. Just takes 15 minutes. Cheers. https://bigbutterflycount.butterfly-conservation.org/
  5. I'm on verge of buying a thermal spotter for first time. What would folk say is more important, low micron rating or the sensor resolution? Obviously the xm30s is 12 micron whereas xq38 is still 17.....
  6. Not exactly the same, but I use a pard008lrf. Use it day & night with no shade. No issues to report.
  7. View Advert Armsan A612 Nottinghamshire Synthetic 28" barrel 14 1/4" LOP Multi choke Swivel studs 3" chamber suitable for super steel A612 in fantastic, near new condition. I've owned it from new bought April 2018. Comes with everything I bought it with boxed including: gun sock, flag to show unloaded, armsan sling, instruction manual & even a hideous hat (never worn....because its hideous!) One tiny mark on stock shown in picture. I've zoomed in so bit blurry but if didn't zoom you wouldn't notice it. Cleane
  8. Your talking about the biggest opportunistic animal in the UK. If he happens across a pile of dog meat, he's gonna fill his furry face before mooching off to find the next thing to put in his mouth but he will remember it was there and try his luck there again.
  9. I've 5 trail camera's that would disagree with you
  10. Oh........ disappointing I don't think that's the one Barry manilow was on about!!
  11. Stuff the foxes, I wanna hear more about Mandy!!
  12. Yeah we're behind with cutting, just been too wet. When I got home my neighbour was putting his golf clubs in car boot, he asked where I'd been so early (he knows I shoot already) after I told him, he goes "God I can't think of anything worse; getting out of bed that early to sit in field on your own in the dark, you must be mad" I just cast my eyes at the golf clubs & nodded my head. Each to their own....
  13. Polar opposite for me; out this morning at 330 with .17 looking for gingers. Not a sight or sound but on way back home took out a lone crow@113yds which was feeding on belly up bunny. I know there's a new fox about after couple weeks of being quiet after last few I've knocked on head as I've seen on trail cam, just a matter of catching up with it.
  14. Same here mate. Not seen my grey partridge pair for a few weeks either. ?
  15. Big difference between knowing about & being able to do.
  16. Is that on laid barley or just failed patches?
  17. Stuff the scope, where can I get those slippers?? Make a great birthday present for Bernard Sausage!!
  18. I'm afraid you're giving the general public far too much credit there mate; they only see a cute stripey cuddly animal & the thought of culling them would be unacceptable to the general public, no matter what fact based points we put across. Morons.
  19. Whats the distance measurement app Ian? Smashing write up cheers.
  20. Mrs SL "honestly! I thought we discussed your weird fetishes!!"
  21. does anyone have any tried & tested means of keeping sheep out of feeders? Where possible ill put them in non used fields or fenced off hedges but want some barrier to allow birds in but woolies out. Cheers.
  22. As above. I used to be manager on a pig farm, we were rspca assured and all that bollocks. We had on site & used captive bolt for anything over 4 weeks old (before that you allowed to whack over head "blunt trauma" rspca called it). Back then I didn't have FAC but once trained was allowed to use it. Only me & assistant manager received the training. Use to captive bolt & then use a pithing rod to ensure death (pigs are tough buggers!)
  23. I'm due a new pair, I go through at least 2 pairs of dealer boots a year. In them 6 days a week, anywhere between 11 - 15hrs a day; they never last long!! Wife calls them my shiťkickers!
  24. Sure a man of your talent could bodge something from this mate!!
