Ive seen what looks like a decent jacket and trousers at Ian hodge fieldsports. Its the English Oak Hunters jacket and trousers. Jacket 65 quid and trousers 35 quid. Supposedly waterproof and quiet. Just after a few reviews. Gaz

Yeh, not knocking your guard dog but if thieves can just let it out then it aint doing the job buddy. Especially if you've got someone coming round regular interested in your dogs. Best deterrent I've seen was Cane Corso x Presa Canario and it did its job.. Also seen some evil looking rotty x mastiffs. Gaz.

I don't plan on my dog running off to be honest. Surely something like this should be optional? If my dog goes walkies and the person who finds him doesn't know he's mine then surely that's my problem? As said by Malc, having a dogs name available to a thief is just helping them out really.

Has anyone heard or been told that it is a legal requirement for a dog to wear an I.D tag on its collar in a public place? There is a sign in the window at the place I go for dog food stating just this and that failure to comply can carry a £5k fine! Never heard anything like it, never had one on a dog yet I don't think. Gaz.

My pup is naughty out of the crate. I wasn't asking how to stop him playing at all, but you know that. I was just telling the lad my experience so far. My pup hasn't it separation anxiety and is good as gold when left alone.

I agree with the crate. My pup is good as gold in his. They don't have to be small either. Mine is 48" x 28" and 32" tall. He eats in his crate, sleeps in it for 12 hours straight without a whimper and goes in there if we go out in the day. It gets alot easier when they are jabbed up though and can have some good excersise. If I take the pup for a run across fields he goes in his crate and sleeps for a few hours of his own accord with crate door open. Good luck. Gaz.

Gotta agree with the Guard dog mate. Loads of people say thieves will find a way around guard dogs, poison etc. But your average thieving twats won't go these lengths in my opinion. My old man has got 2 x Dobes on the farm and few people would get past the bitch, shes not big at all but if she sees anyone she doesn't know she wants to kill them. The dog is alot softer but at near on 8 stone he's quite a deterrent. They've also got a Jack Russell who genuinely thinks he's. Doberman! :-D Gaz

Thanks for reply mate. I'm all for worker x worker, its the way to go. But alot of people just say "its lurcher x lurcher" and thats fine if that suits them but I like to know whats in my dog, not fractions and percentages but just an idea of what it's made up of. I like the saluki/whip/grey, ive got one. Ive always considered adding some collie blood to this type of dog. Maybe a dash of bull blood would also be beneficial. Gaz

Just been flicking through some old CMW papers and looking through classifieds. Came across this litter... Sire - Saluki/Whippet/Grey, Long ear dog pre ban. Dam - Bull/Grey x Collie Grey, Excellent Daytime and lamp dog, took big stuff pre ban. Sounds like a handy cross? My pup is similar way bred as the sire and wouldn't mind putting him over a similar bitch one day if he turns out a gooden. What do you think this cross could produce and turn out like? What good and bad qualities could be there? Gaz

If you do want my personal opinion, if it was pre ban and I wanted something to do bigger stuff then I would probably look at something like my dog Saluki/Whippet/Grey put over a collie/grey x deer/grey. As said above though, some people would hate that cross and vice versa. Gaz

Thorne43 - That's a nice looking dog. How is it bred? 3/4 grey 1/4 deer? Mullered - Everyones idea of an all rounder is different, just go for lurcher x lurcher who are both doing the job. Gaz.

No need to alologise Jai. Entitled to your opinion mate. Agree with most of your last post. As Roxy said I'm not sure what would happen if there was a repeal. I would like to think alot of the muppets are just in it for a buzz and would leave the sport once certain things are made legal. Interesting point roxy. Gaz.

My pup gets porridge a few times a week for breakfast. Cooked in microwave with goats milk. As an alternative to rice pudding or scrambled eggs.

Ideation - What's my point? My point is exactly what Roxy picked up on... The article states that ordinary working folk should not own hunting dogs. I am an ordinary working bloke. My dog will get worked regularly. The article may in fact mean that hunting dogs should not be kept as non-working pets, but it doesnt say that, i disagree with this though aswell. I could have a working bred lurcher and not work it, it sure as hell wouldn't be running around the countryside killing sheep. Also what you say about there being alot of pricks in our game, yes I'm sure there are. But surely
