  1. Wouldn't be worth the cost of SVA'ing a used quad
  2. So by your reckoning this has nothing to do with the turbo? I reckon you should go & look under your bonnet & you'll find that the boost pressure acts on the top of the diaphragm that is in this chamber, overcoming spring pressure & giving you the extra oomph. Where is this boost pressure tapped from? That'll be the turbo then OR If you have a newer car with electrickery controlled via the ecu, you'll find that there is no pipe to it & it's all done off sensors to activate the boost electronically, using MAF sensors, etc etc etc. Now then, who wants a
  3. If you adjust the screw as described without doing any other changes all you will be doing is throwing unburnt fuel straight out the exhaust, hence why you get black smoke on so called "tweaked" engines. All depends what van it is & how much you are carrying! A bit more info would be good. In fact, I would like to see you do the suggested adjustment if it's non turbo!! The bit on top of the above Bosch pump is the boost control unit, under that there is a diaphragm, spring & an odd shaped cone. For more tweaks................become a mechanic, that's why we spend years
  4. DVLA cottoned onto this early on, if you don't have the birth cert for it you're pretty much fooked, all the big dealers - Honda & Yamaha will not issue you another cert because they can't prove it's the original quad. On the birth cert it would say what type of quad it was - agri, utility or agr/util??? Confusing or what. Even if your quad has full setup for road use, without the cert there's no chance mate I'm afraid. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. Mind you, do you have any old test certs for it? Just thought there could be a way round it but it would be like
  5. Have you got the 'birth certificate' for it?
  6. Have to agree with Ferretman. I've been lit up like a christmas tree up here in N.Yorks. I'm one of these people who shoots on foot & doesn't drive round the fields (lazy gits). Just a bit unnerving when you here the shot................... then wonder where the hit is.
  7. Good tyres for road use, be careful on our lovely damp fields, the tread has a tendency to clog quickly & doesn't like letting the mud go unfortunately. Have heard reports of slipping on tarmac but I think that's just driver error.

Had a complete :wankerzo4: timewaster on Saturday, came out to supposedly buy my 90, in the end, all I got was his opinion :wankerzo4: Really does my head in when people who come to buy a car know F all about them.
  10. Hi everyone & apologies to the mods as it looks as if I'm bumping this up. I'd like to bring this to peoples attention; Today I've had a day of tyre kickers & those just wanting to "look" and also those who can't even string a sentence together. So if you are serious about wanting to buy then buy it, if you just want to look buy a bloody land rover magazine & dream & if you can't string a sentence, blame your parents(even if they are the same family). So don't waste my time, I don't care about your opinion - you know what they say about opinions
  11. Tell your mate to go easy on the stops, they are a right pain, you don't want to snap the bolts! They generally are V.F.T!!
  12. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that, wish it did. The 'mob' still sees it as a nasty Land Rover that kills environments which is a bag of b077ocks.
  13. Hi Folks, I'm selling my 90 to make way for something else. It's a 1989 Land Rover 90, originally a 2.5TD but now a 200TDI. Has a 1.4:1 transfer box & a sound gearbox. Comes complete with dog guard, side windows & security mesh, lightforce roof lamp. The bulkhead & chassis are sound, paintwork just looks a bit tired. Also has cd/mp3 player & 5 steel wheels & HD rear suspension & bilstein shocks. Amazing little car & I definately know that I'll be sorry to see it go , but needs must. MOT til Jan 09, tax July 08. Last emissions - 0.13ppm whic
  14. I think our tyre man is talking sh1t, I've got disco wheels on my 90, with 235's on. Reason - they don't bend as much as the standard defender rims. You can go big on the land rovers - 22" rims but you'll need spacers, lift kit, castor correction arms etc etc. Also bear in mind - MOT's have changed, unless it's standard or factory fit it's classed as an aftermarket accessory. A mate has put 285's on wolf rims but didn't bother with anything else & his rover was in a bad way. All you have to do is adjust your steering stops - it'll reduce your turning circle. The grinding i
  15. I know a man who is getting rid of a 200TDI 90 again though, as already said, insurance isn't cheap, even for me Suppose you could always TPFT it & before you go to NZ say it got nicked, but that would be illegal of course. If you can get hold of one a Suzuki SJ410 are awesome but they are like rocking horse sh1t
  16. Cathkin Braes, that brings back memories, used to knock about there when I was a kid, places are all changing.
  17. Sorry to hear your loss. Our thoughts are with you. RIP Billy. X
  18. Even if you fit spacers & bigger wheels you will still have to put longer shocks on it as they'll be doing bugger all. Handy if you want to go over a kerb & make it feel like a huge boulder smacking the chassis.
  19. Use Milners in Derbyshire for the spares, not bad, defo not Mitsi! Just out of interest, if you decide to replace the rear shocks & use Procomp 9000's do a search for a gmc place as they are the same shocks, I paid £90 a pair for mine when I had my Pajero, then got talking to someone & they're shocks worked out at $6 a pop
  20. Not a bad looking motor, certainly better than the pile o' sh1t3 51plate L200 I looked at today Get some good mud terrains on it, they're heavy little buggers the SWB Pajero's plus the M+S tyres that you generally get with them clog up at the sight of a muddy puddle
  21. Apologies if site not there, just updating it
