Trouble Hitting Things, recommend Me A Catty.
darrren replied to darrren's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
I had a feeling the tubes may be a big factor especially as I keep using those bands on every catty. I dis use 1745 on a catty before and although I was hitting things I was convinced it packed enough punch for hunting. I just ordered the pro shot blood sport, so I can try both therabad ott or ttf and tubes. Good price at 25 quid posted. I will be shooting 12mm lead as my everyday ammo so do you recommend trying double theravamd to start? Never ever tried flats but hoping this catty will improve my shooting with practice as its even forks and all round. -
Ok so I've made a few natural carry's, bought a black widow, and im just not having much Luck hitting targets. On the naturals im just banding on red barnett tubes and pulling them ott of the forks. The draw is hard and im using 9.5 steel. Im sure the band setup Im using isn't great so im debating just buying a proper catty and trying theraband. I've ordered some square tube but just after some advice really.

Wanting to order a few bits off the website but can't get through to the contact number, are they still open?

And they use this setup to attach square bands.

I figured it out last night and did it how you said pretty much except I just melted the paracord together and the blob left over was enough to not have to tie a knot. The travellers om catapult are pretty awsome shot on catapult crazy mind.

Hey guys. Im going to post a link to a forum post. If you scroll down there is a post by skook showing a picture of three naturals. How has he attached his bamds to the Gypsy tabs? Has he pushed the band over the paracord then tied it off? Im curious and want to try this setup, I noticed on catapult crazy by the warrener they also had the bands attached this way. Cheers lads.

I know what you mean. What's odd up my sisters place is the numbers are low, and literally on the other side of the road the field is crawling with them. I will have a good look around the permission now and see how to go about it. I guess I just felt like i was doing something wrong. There are plenty of foxes about the new permission and cubs but again not really my thing I only do it for the pot.

As for the re stocking of land is that genuine? Never heard of that.

Im not sure how my post came across as wanting to kill and smash the place but I just want to clear up that's not the case. Im in the services so I work away, and I only have snares up one night a week. I decided to use snares as my ferrets havnt bolted a single rabbit. So, I just got my new permission and the runs are everywhere, Sunday morning there were fresh runs upon runs. I only kill what I eat, I never kill for killing sake. I obviously havnt even scratched the surface on my new land yet, but I won't be over working it either. As I say snares are only ever up one night. It is indeed an

Not starving but when I we wood has snaring DVD and he has more rabbits by the time he sets his snares than I do in three months it leaves a bitter taste on the mouth haha.

I know of a fields where I saw about twenty rabbits and im very near to snaring it to be honest just to get something. As I say the new permission I only went to this weekend and had a few pulls so ill take alot more snares next weekend. Im not after loads but two rabbits in three months is a bit gutting. Used to ne two or three a session as a lad. Seems I Ain't the only one feeling it by the looks. As for the farmer being on bed that field I know with them is is definitely looking like I may have to have a go. The new permission has a field of fern going into a open field divided by a fence a

Long story short, I've just got back into the hunting life since about august. I used to ferret, lamp on the gun about 7 years ago but work and relationships ended it all. So, I now have two ferrets again, I've put my one down so many holes, all the old places I used to go, not a single rabbit, nothing. I've done about 7 trips. I've had two on snares up my sisters field, but that's all that's worked and two in about three months. I just got some permission this weekend, shared it up with 13 snares. Two pulled but no bunnies, runs all over the place though. Me and the missus went up last night, d

Just a quick one guys, been out of the lamping scene for years but got some new permission and gotta get a lamp on it. Just been in the attic and dug my old lamp out. Its a lightforce floodlight with one of the big heavy battery packs. The battery pack is two 6volt batteries, wired together. The charger has a setting for 12volt or 6volt. Im just unsure what i used to have it set on for charging. I would assume being two 6 volt batteries making 12volt total id need the charger set to 12volt?

Its funny you say that, because the last set was a big one, and I definitely heard thumping, and it was that last set where he started popping in and out through different holes, which is why I think again there was something in there. As you said I don't think he was working the first set because he was popping out of the same home he was going in. I'll keep trying because these sets used to always produce rabbits. Do you think he will get the hang when he eventually sees a bunny?

So after not ferreting for over 8 years due to the army my sister said she would look after them in the week if I got some more. So, I got two jobs, one is hyper as anything, the other still small so letting him grow first. Well, I took the hyper one out yesterday for the first time, he went down all the holes no problem. I was concerned at first as he would come back out the hole I put him in, rather than popping out of another hole. He did eventually start popping out of different holes towards the end of the day. I don't have a dog to mark holes, and yesterday was warm, but not a single rabbi

The milbro one can be shot from either hand can it? I was going to get the widow just to see what hand etc i felt best holding it in and stuff as for shooting it differs with me depending on the rifle.

Thanks for the input guys. Where abouts in Bristol you at mate? Im down there every weekend pretty much. Any good spots to have a shot ?

Happy days, so double the band up and its good for the m eights. How much punch is that likely to have? Enough for pigeons? Im going to get a black widow on friday just while im waiting for the bits to come through, have a few shots then just to get a feel for it .
-
Thanks for the advice, sounds simple enough. Is the 1824 alright for shooting the hex nuts? I read on simple shot that its ok for upto 12mm lead once doubled up? Ill be using it single for the time being though to get the shot down.
-
Apologies, the elastic is 1824 by Dankung. Is this alright doubled up for shooting [BANNED TEXT] nuts?

Hiya everyone, been a long time since i been on the forum. Started looking into catapults as i just cant get out with the gun as much these days, and i no longer have the ferrets, and fancied somthing a bit different. I Got a few forks off the walknut tree and ordered some Dankung 1745 tubing. Im going to use gypsy tabs on the catty itself, just wondering how long you guys have your tubing? I may get myself a black widow this weekend just to get used to shooting one. Going to take me a while to get comfy with it as im left handed, do alot of stuff the right handed way, shoot an airgun the left

I have for sale everything you need for ferreting except the ferrets themselves. Perfect for the beginner just starting out or the more experienced/ advanced ferreter. I have 29 purse nets in total, 24 of these are the hemp nets and they have been well looked after, hung up and dried out after use and have no rot at all. The other 5 are of a rope like material. 21 of the nets have pegs attached and i have a few pegs lying around i would put in to be attached to the others. Also, a ferret box with hinges and shackles to lock it with so it can be open and closed easily, and i used to put 2 ferre
