  1. use all my terriers for bush work idealy should work with lurchers for best results at the moment running 3 terriers in cover they tend to catch a few themselves what they miss gets a run for the lurcher
  2. well done lads some nice pics
  3. far far to young only just getting rid of baby teeth take it out with other dogs but dont expect any thing before it is 1 year old still growing so give it time

  7. might take a look not far from me exact location would help
  8. once they jack their hard to get back and being a bull cross and 2 years old you might not be able to try it again on its own not doubled up as this will give the dog false confidence and even a poor dog will join in with another dog had a very good bitch jack on me last year she had seen to much work and just jacked give her a few more goes as i knew the breeding was spot on but still would not do it so give it to a lad of this site for rabbiting
  9. IN ALL THE YEARS I HAVE DOGS I GIVE THEM A PARVO SHOT AT 4-6 WEEKS , AND A 7 IN 1 AT 12 WEEKS, THE ONLY OTHER SHOT THEY GET AFTER THAT IS IF THEY DONT WORK . spot on you only need to jab them when they are pups to give them that extra cover until their immune system is up and working have only ever jabbed when they were pups and have never had any probs the only person that will tell you it is nessecery is the vet
  10. i dont like digging in the summer but sometimes you got to do it to keep farmer happy avoid it as much as possible i also think this may be a cultural thing as i will explain i now live in england and you need permission to work your terriers properly but in ireland a lot of lads dont even know who owns the land they hunt and also if anyone else is hunting the same ground most good holes are known by quite a few lads and get checked a lot so by digging in the summer your not only ruining it for yourself but probably for a lot of other digging boys so get out and road walk those terriers now an
  11. arsenal defo just got back from match new boy nasri one to watch very simular to cesc come on your gunners
  12. as dev said above every dog is different some sounders you can work all week but a hard dog should be given a break when it is sore or you risk the dog jacking even some bayers need a rest and if you know your dogs you should know when to rest them better having a sore dog lying in the kennel for a couple of weeks than a jacker who wont work for you again
  13. my first lurcher was a 3-4 whippet 1-4 staff it was the best rabbiting dog i have ever owned i was olnly 11 at the time and was out every day with this dog his record for one day was 49 rabbits all hunted up and caught by him single handed i still get asked about him when i go home to ireland as he was that weel known in our town and that was 30 odd years ago was home in march and someone brought it up in the pub still talked about and still remembered people used to call at my mums to take the dog out when i was at school
  14. i think it is more a case of the local plod not knowing the law as it stands in n.ireland it is still legal to work a terrier to ground on a fox one problem mentioned was the use of a spit every one i hunt with in ireland uses them but here in england i dont know many that do apart from me i think its because of its association with badger digging and some police beleive that is their sole use i live in england now but still use one but keep it out of sight just saves all the aggro if you get a thick copper plus since all the trouble has stop in n.ireland a lot of policemen have to much time o
  15. nice going like the red dog looks a handy tool best of luck
  16. mac i live in north london and keep terriers and lurchers as some one asked what sort of numbers they were in i get a lot more in town pre ban than i did hunting in the country just as a average between 90 and 120 foxes per year with 3 terriers and 2 lurchers alot done by lurchers flushed from brambles but still a lot of digging as well

  20. russel x border x springer x fell x beagle x patterdale x lakeland x jagd x collie this cross is very hard to get because of the number of crosses and getting the right amounts of each breed some people can go a full life time without accheiving this and have to make do with dogs that are only good at some things ps docked tails work better...lol
