  1. You can never have enough nets. It all depends on the amount of holes on the warrens you are ferreting. If there is 10 holes, you will need 10 nets and a few for spares. and so on. As far as gate nets and long nets go, its handy to have them, it all depends on the enviroment and terrain you are working. Budget is also a big factor. Start with purse nets, get some ferreting done and find your feet, then think about putting your hand in your pocket.

On my rounds today and happened upon a rabbit, sat out in plain sight, around 50 yds away and with no cover.Showing me all of its left side. An opportunity not to pass up i thought. Raised my rifle and slowly made up 10 yds, didnt budge an inch. Did another 5, still not looking as it was going to make a bid for freedom. It just scrunched up and sat down further into its seat, perhaps thinking i hadnt noticed it and feeling comfortable blending into the bare brown mud it was sat on. Decided i wasnt going to approach any further, i took my shot. With a kick and a twitch it rolled over o
  5. Rarely get it in the same area every year, More like every other. Some spots we go can be even longer. Dont get me wrong, you will stumble upon the odd mixy rabbit, but it takes a while for it to fully take hold and make some kind of an impact. Im very fortunate to have plenty of land in different areas to go at, so if one place goes tits up, there is always somewhere else to go, we leave that spot alone for a while and allow the numbers to recover, but still making a presence occasionaly for the land owner There is one farm we go and you can guarante if it hasnt got it this year it will h

An answer in short 'NO' Too many variables to take into account ie, Risk assessments, insurance etc etc. It is very likely that your school isnt able to make the descision as this will belong to your local authority. If thats the case, not a feckin chance in the world.
  7. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/html/section...arsen-trap.html Courtesy of Big Fish Try using search matey, its a handy function. Its located at the top right of your screen.
  8. Your trap looks well, good job You need to address the issue of not harming your trapped quarry. Legally, So all spikes internally will need removing (cant make it out too well but the door has prongs bent inwards). It also needs de-burring. (all sharp edges removing). You could also do with replacing the cable ties holding it togeather, with something stronger and more appropriate, myself or john b can help you out there. These can be chewed. Hope you put it to use for more than just squirrels
  9. As far as your tree qualifications go, good luck, but dont be getting in above your head. Experience is a must. Get a bit of sub contracting done with a local firm ( day or so a week ), This will not only help you tick over financialy but will open your eyes to the crap tree jobs that are out there, and to what problems you can encounter. As you will. Are you doing any climbing? Getting a chainsaw and tackling the world isnt as clear cut ( lol no pun intended and not being funny but shit will go wrong, and you need to be prepared ) You dont want to drop a tree onto mrs smiths
  10. mick,,ha, did you think i was serious, i'm evo stick, all day long,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and i don't sniff it So thats what you tell everyone Look, forget your chemical anchors as good as they are, and certainly forget B & Q lol HLAH please take note!! Place your cabinet on the wall. Open the door. At the rear of the cabinet there will be some pre drilled holes for mounting. Take a marker pen, centre punch, bradawl whatever. Mark the holes. Remove the cabinet. Making sure to accurately drill the holes, level and with the correct size bit (masonary not wood or hss) Insert
  11. Willow will burn and it will split, just depends on what you are splitting it with It is a wet wood, so it will need a degree of drying. Depending on how hot your stove is burning, it will take the occasional wet lump. Dont let any go to waste!! Now the leaves have dropped all the wood is useable, although a little time consuming. Cut up the branches and tip ends to dry for kindling. The rest is only worth as firewood. If the girth of the trunk is relatively knot free, you should split it with ease with a 5lb+ axe. The rest that you cant is saw fodder!! With it being the weeping
  12. you are on the list Nice one Dont mind what or where it is. If its free then i will have it.
  13. Oh feck it, Go on then, if there is some permission going somewhere then i will have some too PLEASE. Pretty please??
  14. How is it easier to fit than a normal bolt fixing?? You still have to mark and drill four holes, then fill it whatever you decide.
  15. Is it worth paying all the extra cash out for a chemical anchor??
  16. I am sure that the fao would prefer your cabinet to be secured to the wall as opposed to the timber (if given the choice) There are multiple masonary anchors you could use, ranging from hammer fixings (plastic wallplug type) to rawl fixings (bolt type) The latter i would suggest, somewhere in the range of 12-15mm should do the trick Four of them bad boys in the back of your cabinet and it aint going anywhere in a hurry.
  17. The idea has always been there mate, and as mackem says it is very common. It is illegal to snare birds in the uk. There are some wierd and wonderfull bird snaring techniques, which some involve very elaborate set ups. Multi hooped roost branches. Baited snares, both branch/perch set and ground set. The list goes on. Natural glue made from tree resins can also be used to glue birds to their roost perches. Have a good old search on the tinterweb, im sure you will find something that makes for good reading
  18. I belive stubby made it. All you need is some mesh or a ready made cage, some bob wires (from john b ), a little fettling and your away. I knocked this one up from an old dog cage.
