Whippet x Bull Bitch 16months - Free - Now sorted
markw replied to markw's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock

This bitch is now sorted. Thanks to all who responded via PM (said I would reply individually but too many) showing an interest, and also to those who posted. =============================================================== I rarely make any good decisions, and here's another bad one. Succumbed to pressure for a 'house dog' and bought this bitch for wife and kids last year. Specifically had to be Whippet X Bull, but that's another long story! Anyway kids have got no interest whatsoever, and wife, God bless her, just does not have enough hours in the day. I do not keep working dogs any longe

So sorry mate, it looks like it will be going, one way or another. If however everyone lets me down, which I don't a

I put this up last week-end and had loads of callers. One lad definitely wanted it, so badly he didn't even bother to show! All others who replied seemed very decent, but I put them off, as distance they had to travel I did not feel would be worth their while in fuel. As I said in first post, it's a relatively good, sound cage, but not worth a lot of money, which is why I am giving it away to anyone who can collect it. I have only put it up again, as I am reluctant and would be very sad to chop it up, but if not wanted, or collected by 12.00 on Saturday 9th May that's what will happen. Shame I

Sent you a pm a couple of days ago

I know this may sound like a daft question mate, but have you actually been round to his house and simply asked for your dogs back. From what you say, it might be that things have gone beyond reason, but it could be worth taking a small step back, and approaching things differently, even at this late stage. Take someone, non threatening, with you as a witness, and if things do get ugly, just leave. If you are (or feel) threatened in any way, that will do him few favours if the matter does go further. It seems like you have a pretty strong case legally, especially if you are in possession

Have just read the story about a lady who apparently brought 5 stray dogs over from Sri Lanka that were placed in quarantine. One that was subsequently found to have rabies bit her, and two other people. All 5 dogs were destroyed, and the people bitten have received treated and are not thought to be at risk. Now, is it me, but do we not have enough strays here? While I am not uncharitable, I'm nevertheless dismayed and deeply disturbed, that with all the human suffering in the world, anyone could spend all that money (flights from Sri Lanka, quarantine X5 for 6 months) on bringing 5 stra

IGB it is then, check the website. Should have no problems

Hi, key in his tatoo on the relevant box on www.greyhounddata.com, which does not always have the dog's identity, or alternatively look on the IGB (Irish) website or call them. Have assumed from your post that the dog's Irish and tatooed in both ears, British have only one ear tatoo that should not have 5 letters/digits.

A good start would be to pull the sheath back and give it a good clean (watch it, he won't like it), with cotton wool and warm clean water, using a clean piece each time. If it continues thereafter a course of antibiotics may be in order.

Hi, You need to get your dog checked out by a vet who specialises in greyhound injuries. A general vet may not pick up on certain injuries, which, while not unique, are relatively common in racing dogs. It would be impossible to suggest what might be wrong with your dog without seeing it, and perhaps not even then, but I can say with certainty, that from what you have described, your dog is carrying an injury, which will only be made worse if you continue to run it without establishing what it is, and treating it.
