Tried (luckily) just one box & nowhere near accuracy of old batches:maybe just a bad batch but will stick to RWS for present despite lower velocity.

"is that one of dannys, drut?" Yes it certainly is SSS.

Not cheap or light but nice!

"Nice 1 Elliott the .22 is surprisingly good on Charlie" Although I use ,222 for fox(can be fed reduced hornet level loads as can .223 )I shoot just as many foxes with .22lr purely because they present "targets of opportunity"when I am out rabbit shooting with .22lr. Given precise shot placement & sensible range .22lr is very effective on fox.

+1. Marmite I guess?? Reckon so,overall I think its personal choice.I can see more detail on the monitor screen than the near eye display units I've tried but find it clumsy when carrying rifle.

Unless I have picked it up wrong, going by these results black sun is only about 5% more powerful than as pill: http://www.nightvisionforumuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12957&hilit=results

Probably Been Done Before But 223. Or 22-250 For Fox ?
drut replied to Bigad's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Personally I use a .222 without feeling undergunned & often reload to down 22 Hornet energy. The real question,to me,is how far do you need to shoot:if I had different permissions I might need a .204/22-2250/.243 instead of the .222.I freely admit I would love to find a good reason to buy some other calibres but .222+22lr covers all my needs.Back to your choices,my take is you need to be routinely shooting beyond 200yds or have windswept land to need more than .223 but you can't be wrong with either choice. -
Shotgun Certificates And Mental Health

Best advice I could give is to talk to your doctor/gp and ask for his opinion before applying : if police have any doubts they will contact/want a report from him or her. -
I have a .222 that I take when targetting fox or long range vermin : very accurate & fox capable BUT shoot nearly as many foxes in a year with 22lr purely because they present themselves at relatively short ranges whilst I am out targetting rabbits.Unless you can hit the right area within the calibre's capabilities you should not take the shot but 22lr is a very underrated round.

Federal Game Shok Or Remmington Yellow Jacket??
drut replied to ludders76's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
CCi Velocitor are the best by a country mile through my CZ452:accurate as subs + hit hard.Other Hv with the notable exception of RWS(also good) have had poor accuracy. -
Have a remote u caller, bought new for £65,seems to work well enough:easy 100yd range.Tried a range of calls as its easy to load other mp3's(Varmint Al/Western Rivers etc),but for some reason never had any success with fox calling, seems best/good at atracting crows(photography ).Overall for fox,wam/mouth calls work better:disappointed!

Looks identical to mine, had it for 2+ years, works fine for me.

Thats a blast from the past, have used them years ago.HV but were quite accurate through my CZ.AFAIK velocity was about 1230 fps.

Legal but a large fishing holdall attracts less attention.

If,as is common on T8's ,it is a corrosion "bleed through" spot, safe repair can be done by brazing/silver soldering etc.

Winny Subs, Old Blue Box V New Black.
drut replied to courser's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Have had the same problem to the point of changing to RWS/Eley/SK at the beginning of last year. However although my CZ452 is happy with them,my old Brno 581 only did well with the old Winchesters so I reluctantly bought a brick of Winnies(the new black box ones) a month ago, fortunately this batch shoots as well as the old blue box ones.I am left to wonder if they have had a passing problem or ongoing issues that make picking an accurate batch a lottery.I would like to hear any reports about the new 42gr Winnies in case their quality control/batch consistency is better than the 40gr. -
"Gizzy mod" solved my problems no bother! For some reason cannot include link but search on Rimfire Central CZ section for "extraction" will reveal all, basically means correcting extractor shape.

I have CZ452 16" Silhouette & a Brno 581 semi(made in 1961,forerunner to CZ511).If I could only have one .22 the 452 would be the only choice, reliable & capable of 3/8" accuracy @ 50yds with the right ammo once trigger is sorted.Brno 581 is fun but not as accurate(3/4" Win subs,1/2" RWS HV @ 50yds) more than good enough for my needs. The 452 was accurate from the box & improved with trigger kit,581 despite sellers claims needed a lot of fettling to get it accurate and to cycle reliably,it still only shoots well with Win subs or RWS HV but I really enjoy shooting it.

.22Lr Subsonic And Supersonic Ammo
drut replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
My experience exactly except for some reason Velocitors hit to the left(1.5"@100yds) through my CZ452 Silhouette.I do find Velocitors very accurate(also very noisy)through my rifle, hit about 2" high at 50-60yds compared to Winny subs. They are matched in accuracy,if not effect,by RWS HV in my rifle and some ancient Eley HV rounds produced the tightest groups @ 100yds I have ever shot. -
Great

Something like this ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blued-Steel-1-2-UNF-Silencer-Barrel-THREAD-PROTECTOR-/230585051636

Strangely I found them accurate & hard hitting in my Cz,hard to close the bolt & yes they do still ricochet but possibly in 3 lighter parts that do not travel as far.The problem that ruled them out for me,apart from the cost, was the noise:every other one seemed to go supersonic with the attendant crack.I think the idea was excellent but pity "Carlsberg"didn't make them!

As above,Brno581/CZ511 mag wanted.

I have one of these http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eD0bmRFtF1g have used it together with caller. Results have been mixed:don't think it has attracted any foxes but it has distracted a couple long enough for me to shoot them.Might have a better market as an "Anne Summers" toy!

Ye it get advertised as both 1x24 and 2x24 depending where you buy it from AFAIK that is perfectly correct,I was told the same lens(1.7 x mag allegedly)was used in Yukon 1x & 2x monoculars and the difference in mag is down to the monocular internals.
