Really appreciate your permissions guys, I'll contact you shortly re: photos, would be good to have a page on the history of mole traps. All of you will be credited. I'll PM you all shortly. Once again Many thanks.

Here's permission for ye to use mine, Tyke. Cheers DS permission is appreciated, I have PM'd you. Could do with top men like yourself in the Mole Directory, but unlike B&Q I know you have no moles in the emerald isle, great sea trout, salmon and salt water fly fishing mind.

A great post, could I be given permission to use the posters photos, please. I'll give credit to any oneallowing me to use them. A new Mole Directory is due to go live soon, Moles UK Directory and the photos would look great on the pages and the password locked members only page. I understand if you don't want me to use them and fully respect that decision.

It would appear that a scientist has worries of amphibions being killed and thier habitats destroyed, it won't be long before they are banned in this country, a lot going on in the background to end thier use. Be helpful if you know of any misuse or abuse if you could pm me the details.

Mate had a terrino forever towing him out of the wet fields, he give it up in the end.

Took the Vitara into a field today purposely bogged it in mud in 2 wheel drive and tried to get out but stuck good. Slipped into 4 wheel high she pissed it, so was well pleased, knew I had 4 low to back me up as well.

Reliable. Simple ,relativly old -fashioned vehicle to work on .Like Stubby says ,a bit short on space maybe. The rust never sleeps but nothing that can't be kept at bay for several MOT's without too much expense. My Suzuki looks a bit like a patchwork quilt thanks to some very artistic welding. I'd have another. Guys I just purchased the Vitara 2 litre diesel, long wheel base, auto free wheeling hubs, what are these like off road? Steady terrian or will they take on any terrian? Appreciate any info. TIA

BTMR is under change, best make sure you have public liabilty, references, insurance etc and fully competent.

Fact not harsh, I in total agreement with you.

Professional advertising the only way, building a reputation = WOM = the icing on the cake. Farmers, councils & potential customers will see through the cheap cards, flyers, inexperience, chancer, etc. If you have no public liabilty you should not be putting customers thier family, property and friends or stock at risk. And remember the tax man is one step behind you, you advertise any where, expect a call from them one day. Don't think for one minute they don't cruise in these forums, they do. And make sure your van, car is insured for business or you could be in serious trouble, if your

Bugger they back, great great grandad must have missed a pair in the 1600's, he'll be spinning in his grave.

Bang on Trappa, farmers are not stupid they know who knows what they doing and what the going price is, they talk to each other. Bank holidays, forget them the farmers want you working just like them, first light to dusk.
-
Matt Your poll was full of good intentions, but folk can give false info so does not reflect a true or national pricing structure. Some do it for pin money and they are good at trapping, but don't need the income so thier price is low, others do it for a living hence high price. If I was to charge my farmers £10+ a mole they would not employ me, hence a annual contract where we both win. I am not a pest controller, I control moles, full stop. The rats and rabbits I have friends who take it on for free, altough I am looking at rats and squirrels as I am getting asked to do these a lot. Ver

ps: The snow, sleet, rain, stoney ground, frost frozen ground and traps, mud, long treks over cow shit fields, back filled traps, nicked traps, badger and fox raided traps, farmers turning stock onto fields which you have laid traps and you agreed he would keep stock free, the first light starts and dusk finishes, the list goes on. Easy money, its not.
-
Totally agree with mole trapper, the image of the mole man is being romanticised and like its quick easy money. Wrong, so wrong, fuel, tax, traps cost money, skills and patience have to be learnt respect for moley becomes 2nd nature. A lot of so called "mole catchers" out there giving the real ones a bad name already. I too will teach genuine lads, but I'll not pay them if they want to learn then do as I did put in the time. Well done mole trapper for speaking out.

Reasons why Farmers want Moles controlled
Tyke replied to heart of wales's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
PS; If the fields have runs ( which they will have ) you did do a risk assement for the school and council, if not you could be liable. Disclaimers are wonderful things in the correct hands. 3 things you have to put into place for any council, borough, parish etc. £5,000,000 public liabilty, police checked, full risk assesment, miss one and you become liable, the barristers will have a field day with you. Trapping signs should also be displayed in public areas, yes they and the traps will be nicked. hence I only do those that have cameras or are locked. trapping on schools can only be -
Reasons why Farmers want Moles controlled
Tyke replied to heart of wales's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I been looking after the borough council schools and sports fields for past 10 year, think you will find its down to the person who pass the area as playable who is liable. If they see a mole hill and allow play and a accident occured you as a mole controller would not be liable no would the school / sport field owners, the teacher / officer in charge MAY be, they is a large grey area, funny old world. -
I'll take a set, they look comfy. PM.d you

Is they post and rail fencing round the paddocks?

Tyke, The brown bitch was Lakeland / Russell from some good class local dogs, unfortunately she didn't make the grade and was nasty around the kennels. She was about 3 in that photo. All the best, Simmo. Thanks for the reply Simmo, aplogies for hijacking the thread.
