Yanks Wearing Orange Vests/Camo
Hunting-top-shots replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Sure you have the old saying from the second world war. When the Germans fired the Brittish ducked. When the Brittish fired the Germans ducked. When the yanks fired every fecker ducked. How F&%$ing True is that what a classic it is still the same today not much changed on the yank side!!!! Not only in the US though, in Germany you have to by law wear an Orange jacket that covers at least 1/3 of the hunter if you are hunting in a group for instance driven Boar or Hare -

yes there will Hare, Rabbit, Phesant and all of the other wild and game animals that should be in the area. that is why terriermen and their small heros spend alot of time out in all weather trying too keep the fox population down and if there were 88 shot in one day the population is way to high. In Germany there are also days like this in our area it will be on the comeing w-end all of the hunters in the area will be on seats to try and shoot the foxes through the night and during the day there will be a Terrier group on the ground checking the sets with 3 Guns. Stainless Steel troubles
Hunting-top-shots replied to HarryL's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Stainless steel will rust if it comes into contact with Salt or Chlor salts, there is one type of SS that is used in Swiming pools that will not rust but appart from that one all of the others will rust. another thing that can make Stainless rust is contact to normal steel if the normal steel scratches the surface of the Stainless the normal steel molecules will attach them selfs to the stainless and then the rust will start at the scratch point and then travel. I have 2 Stainless rifles that I keep in a seperate safe and just a touch of oil from an old rag is use to clean them when I put -

Just wet the end of he polystyrene Ah righto. Cheers for that ^ Polystyrene also works on a bottle!! another good thing is a cork wet it and rub it on a glass surface. I use the cork from a champain bottle as they have a larger head to hold on to. cheers HTS

Conibear traps
Hunting-top-shots replied to Hunting-top-shots's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
OK hold on a sec!! I have been asked by the German Counsil to trap foxes in live traps because it is a built up area and the cats have to be let out unharmed! the live traps are about 2,5 meters long and have an opening of 50 X 50 so quite big and heavy. there is no way that I can use any sort of wepon in the built up area so I have made a second door that replaces the falling door on one side in the second door there is a hole cut out the same size as the largest Conni. I thought it was simple replace the door and then push a stick under the door on the other side the foxes have -
digging in germany/france
Hunting-top-shots replied to rosco p's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
you wont have to join a hegering or have a hunting licence to hunt the dogs but you will have to have someone with a hunting licence to be with you. and also the persmission of the person that owns the hunt!! there are no areas in Germany that do not have a sindicate. this would be the main problem over here it has taken me nearly 8 years to get permission on 2 hunts to control the Foxes, without dogs just with traps and a rifle, now I have permission on nearly 14 hunts to use the rifle traps and now to dig to the dogs. some of the lads off of this site will be comeing back here next w-end -

digging in germany/france
Hunting-top-shots replied to rosco p's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Hi, you should be able to find some sort of ground work in Germany, i am also living over here, I have done the German Hunting licence so it is ok and I can carry a gun when the crazy people come here with the little BLACK ONE's. what I would advice is to look under HEGERING in the area that you are hoping to hunt in this is my site over here that I made with a lot of help. http://www.hegering-moehnesee.de/ if you find a Hegering then you are looking for the Hegeringleiter that is the boss or the Hunde obmann who would be the person in charge of most of the dog work and ask them if -
Conibear traps
Hunting-top-shots replied to Hunting-top-shots's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I only use them to dispach foxes when caught in a live trap place the Coni infront of the trap and then take the door away, and whack goes Foxey. I can not use the pistol as it is a built up area that I have been asked to trap in from the council. yes I have got the German licence and the Trappers licence. Thanks for the info all the same. Hi Mate, if your gun can take it then I use the 12/76 with 3,5mm shot and a 56 gram load, brings them down when others can't Works for me HTS

Should working dogs be microchipped?
Hunting-top-shots replied to mike1458's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
It is not a case of why take the dog goes to the vet, it is more a case of when the dogs get exported. I don't think that the nicked dogs stay in the UK. To export dogs you have to have a chip. appart from above if the dog gets lost the there are systems in all dog homes / Kennels that check the dogs before they are put in a Kennel if the dog is chiped then you will more than likly get a phone call from the home to tell you to come and pick up the dog and that is reason enough to get it done. Should working dogs be microchipped?
Hunting-top-shots replied to mike1458's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I think we should all get our dogs chiped, just think how many times have we read dog been nicked, when importing or exporting dogs they have to be chiped to travel. If the dogs ain't chiped it is easy enough to chip the dog and then send him accross seas never to be seen again. but if there is already a chip in the dog there can't be a second one placed, or if the dirty feckers that nicked the dogs were dumb enough not to check then how are they going to explain the wrong number at the port. and as for the guys that say they are poachers GET A LIFE!!! and turn the gray matter on there are -
while out checking the snares years ago, with my grandfather we found a fox still alive , so pop beeing a gamekeeper took the trunchen and dispatched the fox. he then removed it from the snare and reset a new one, put the fox in an old fertilizer bag opend the boot of the Renault 4 and placed the fox in the boot. all of a sudden while driving he did an emergency stop and shouted out, anot knowing what had happend I turned around to see the Fox looking over the back seat. Pop jumped out and took the .22 pumpaction rifle that always hung on the seat adjustemnts of the driver and passenger seats.
