Hi all I finally got round to doing something with the awful patchy HW95 stock!! I need to get thye action stripped and polished now for a reblue, It'll have to wait though until i'm back at work (y).. I recently traded my other HW95 for this Theobem Fenman (Keep getting peeps saying it's an Evo but apparently the later Fenmans dispensed with the raised scope rail in favour of cut in dovetails Also bought this KL3-b 'Fast Deer' John

Unfortunately the Tac guns can't be bought and sold now as the law was changed I think the only way to sell them is to sell them abroad, otherwise they have to be handed in for destruction I was offered a Lee Enfield converted gun with all the cart's at a bootsale, I told the bloke they were illegal unless he obtained an FAC for it years ago and that he wasn't allowed to sell it even if he had the FAc but he was adamant that because he bought it new, he was legal Never saw him since so I don't know if he sold it or not (Or was caught by the law and locked up!! ) John

A Rusty Hw80 Mk1 Restored..
johnbaz replied to johnbaz's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Mark Thanks When I first put it back together, the first shot through the chrono worked out at 21ft lbs I stripped it straight away and found oil/grease in the nick of the piston seal which had detonated and would have carried on doing so until it had all been spent! I cleaned it and rebuilt it and after that it was shooting at aroun11.4ft lbs, this is with next to no preload on the mainspring, There's hardly any recoil and accuracy isn't bad but then i'm not the best shot in the world!! The first card was as the scope was set back on the gun, The second card was a -
Recently acquired a couple more HW95 that's been tuned and is as smooth as a maidens inner thigh, Stock needs redoing though as it's patchy and 'orible!! Hatsan AT44-10, The barrel on this was bent uppards! (May be able to see in the pic) I've straightened it now and it's fine John

A Rusty Hw80 Mk1 Restored..
johnbaz replied to johnbaz's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thanks lads I'm currently doing a T-Bar Gem up! It's around a hundred years old and was pitted really deeply!! Luckily these little things were solid so all the steel i've removed to get it something like hasn't hurt it a bit!! After a fair bit of grinding and then polishing (And draw filing on the flats of the octogon barrel!!)... I gave it a go with some Ballistol Klever blue just to see what the finish of the steel would look like, I think it needs a bit more polishing as there's still some shallow pitting... After some more -

Hi all I recently bought a Mk1 HW80 that was in a pretty poor state on the outside though it was shooting spot on!! I paid £60 fot it from my locals SDS dive shop! Pics.. After a good grinding and polish I sent it off for a hot chemical reblack with a mate that has a contact How it came back.. And rebuilt, I was going to strip the stock and re do it but it's actually not in bad nick!! Total cost was £85, It came with the little 4x32 Nikko scope and both open sights I'm part way through a 100 year old Gem resto that was

Pellets Jammed In Barrel
johnbaz replied to jandcguns's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi I once got a load stuck in a Logun S16 (easy to do!! ) I got a steel rod and used a diamond needle file to cut a coarse thread on one end like a woodscrew, I wrapped a bit of electrical tape around it a couple of inches from the end to stop it biting in off centre and damaging the bore, I'd got them out in five mins (y) Good luck to your mate removing them John -
Bought a couple more recently.. This is a mk1 Weihrauch HW80, It was dead rusty when I bought it but stripped away the rust and had it reblued.. Just bought this HW35 that needs a bit of work John

If you don't want to strip the Rekord unit then give it a wash in diesel, Or you could soak it in paraffin or something similar overnight as it looks like someone's greased it, It should have light machine oil for lubrication You definitely need to get rid of all the 'plasticised' grease though as it creates a condition called 'Sticktion, that's friction caused by the thick sticky grease The problem should go then.. Regarding the cocking link catching the spring, I don't know why it's suddenly just started but a way of stopping it would be to make a piston liner which is a piece of .

Hi all I was given this mould which a mate on facebook made, It's OK but the sprues are a little short so with ordinary cutter, it chops in to the ball! Could do with making or buying a proper set of concaved sprue cutters!! Some pics.. Size.. Weight.. John

HI I'm (hopefully) getting a Firearms cert next year and have my first rifle lined up!! It's a good friend that's selling it, It's an Anschutz rimmie (Can't remember the model number!) but I shot it on sunday, It's absolutely like new and is bang on accurate Sorry for the poor pic, It lost clarity when I enlarged it some!! I also have an antique Belgian sbs damascus muzzle loader that's just a wall hanger but I need to redo the barrels in plum brown... John
