what are the DO NOTS when bringing on a dog
brock1 replied to JPTfellterrier's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Erm, not true ... Do not set the dog up for failure: make sure you give it easy catches and bring it on slowly slowly. No hurry. true lurchergrrl. how dose a house dog end up soft ? it will only end up soft in the house if you treat it diffrent then you would outside. -
like i sead they lower the recoil of the gun i had one in my excell so less recoil the less you will have to sight your gun up mate. but a mate of mine has a bsa lightning that has one in & now it only fires at 8 psi now on the cronograth but i dont know how long he has had it in. they dont like oil on them at all. but i would have another one in my gun anyday they can turn a sh*t gun in to a good gun well wearth getting.

i use to use a wooden fram with net on top & just a stick with a bit of string & get 30+ each time i set it ferrets loved them lol but there ment to be rear now lol.
-
i dont think that you can catch them any more it is illegal in the uk. plus you would need a baby i think. animals seem to learn better when there young.
-
not bad 3 from 1 set. you would be lucky to get 1 out of a set in hartlepool now & that would have mixi.
-
lol you tell him bodz.

so you mean like dont let you lurcher work cover if you walk them on a night if you whant to use the for lamping.or dont prase a dog for marking as it will start to mark every set it gets the chance to. -
i heard they could talk years ago but i have never seen one talk but i have heard them make camra noises before but they are still flighing rats in my eyes.

do not rush the dog to work just couse it looks ready dont mean it is. -
if you just whant rabbits then i would recomend lance or a clueliteas most rabbits are round the out side of the field & if you lamp them often with a big lamp like a blitz they will be gone before you get in the field & you will only get the ode run for the dog from each field. but with a small lamp you will have to walk round the field to see then but they will not see you so easy ether as the beam is not as long as the blitz. rabbits dont run as far as other game so you dont need a big beam for them. but as allready sead he will see some one with a bigger lamp and whant one of them

you can still buy it from most pet shops mix it like it says on the bottle then use a sponge to scrub the dog with it & wach the fleas fall of the dog it works realy well i use it 2 or 3 times a year but if the dog stays in the house dont use it as your house will stink realy bad.

mine had the same sort of thing done by jumping 6 foot chain mesh fence could not find nowt rong with it. but he just was not running right & after a couse just use to lift his leg i asked a few local gryhound men i now & they sead it nite be tendon damage & gave me some bone radial & told me to scrub the dogs toe every other day for 2 weeks then see what it run like. that worked for mine but you are better of getting some one that nows what there doing to have a look first. i hope she is well sone & doing that she was breed for mate.
-
good for you for apologiseing my law it takes guts to admit when your wrong.
-
All depends what breed it is mate....having a dog with fresh marks will probably get you done for failure to provide due care and attention if you didnt take it to a vet....but they wont put a dog down just because its a working dog unless its of a banned breed or remotely similar ! They can only go under government guidelines they cant put a dog down because they think its a working animal so viscious.....theres no law saying working dogs are viscious so have to be put down....hence what they can and will do is try and get you on things like lack of care regarding wounds etc to them nobody s

i had one in my webly xcell &yes you do have to still cock the gun but it made my gun have less kick with the same power but i lent mine out &the lad put oil down the barell & f*cked the gas ram but it is well worth getting one just dont leand the gun out lol ps there easy to fit your self & come with full instructions

best thing to do if they come is make it as hard as posable for them without getting locked up make them get the police so they can see that you have been told your dogs are fine then if they come again it will be on record with the police not just the rspca. if you dont then the chances are if you have working animals they will come back time & time again just waiting to see some fresh working marks. then a rat bite will be a bager bite in there eyes & they will get the boys in blue to come to your house to take your dogs ect. then your poor dogs will be put to sleep before you can pr
