  2. Good one.. Did you catch the fox?
  3. Cheers for the replys some good info.. Keeper phoned yesterday and has given us as much ground as we could ever deal with.. I think he enjoyed himself!! Happy days
  4. Yeah good one.. But the deeper you go the wider you go! and the lamp was already out.. Just wondered if there were an easier way.. we would have soon needed a swing shovel!!
  5. Yes mate but if you dig to the shortest reading straight down then you will never drop on the dog, and will have either have to open the hole out all the way around or trench on! Thanks for reply
  6. Same mate a good result after but the dog will never go in there again..
  7. We started off going straight down mate but when we eventually got to the pipe had to tunnel on to get to the dog, feckin nightmare! could have gone a bit cross eyed if the ground was dodgy! I new the shortest reading on the box would have ment digging on an angle but hard as feck to work out what way to go.. ha ha
  8. Alright all, me and a mate had our first trip out with the keeper this year. We did an hour or so with no result then found a place where the dogs gave a good mark. We stopped a few in as the keeper only had a gun and would have been hard to keep the lot covered. Long story short! we entered a young russel dog who bolted one then after a short while came out and we then ran a more experienced dog through just to check!! Turns out there were a brace in there and we ended up spending the rest of the day there digging it out! The reading we got on the box was 2.5 but it was on a steep bank that

  11. nice one mate. They look big old lumps! how are they despatched? do they need shooting or are the dogs capable of the job? Cheers
  12. The field is the best place! They help keep there self..
  13. Its got to be drummed into the dog, the earlier the better i was always told. Worked for mine.
  14. Im not that keen on running mine on it mate, though i have done. Like you say it becomes softer as it rots down. I think the bigger quarry never used to be so much of a problem but dogs striking low can be a bit dodgy. Just my opinion.
  15. Most people on this site slate the fu..k out of the kennel club and what they have done to various breeds over time. If all terriers were bred true to type over a period of time then surely the same would happen to them. In my eyes it doesnt hurt chuckin in the odd spanner and you can for sure get some quality results..
  16. nice... sounds like a good day out.
  17. Happy days.. The fog and full moon always a good un as well..
