We are using Airedale X Staghounds you can see them in the posts called Airedale crosses..

Good sport for a small 9-13lbs terrier, OK for 15+ but will take a lot of damage if out all day, and should be easy for any game 20+lbs terrier to handle.. More fun and pest control than a real "game" test... The test is the dogs locating, we cover a lot of ground and the dogs do all the work.. C.J.

Pests and we feed them to the dogs, haven't had to buy food for them in months, my friends also drop off their fish after fishing and w/ the fish and Nutria the dogs do pretty good.. If you go to the US south they eat them there and even in some restaurants .. Just big rats to me .... C.J.

Nutria or Coypu.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coypu Here are some pics you can see them better.. This was at the beginning of the spring.. C.J.

23 today w/ 3 terriers and 2 lurchers, no bloters this time ;D ;D.. Tim got a tooth broke out but kept hunting for 3 more hours like a champ, he was dug to 5 times in one day, "Tiny Tim" is 9lbs we weighed him tonight after the hunt... At one point he entered between two roots that I could not put my fist in, this dog has no chest and brass balls!!! Nick's "Radish" also did a GREAT job and was dug to twice.. "Lucy" Pete's Jagd is a crazy locating freak, I cant wait to get my pup off of her started... No hunting pics but some good "tail" gate shots ... Still a lot more at this place just

Not a lot of pure dogs hunting in the hills around here.. mostly crosses some walkers.... For me I like a cur and that is why I like any cur cross but like the bear dog plott cross for a tree dog.. I have not done a lot but the races I did see for Bobcat I like the curs a lot... I do see what you are saying about the crosses being to type but in this case that is what I would be going for... But on the sight hound note my friend has a BMC X Stag pup, have you ever seen one, I am looking forward to seeing it in action...

Ya my friend got a 87lbs one in Canada but like you were saying at that size I am sure it was a wolf cross yote.. and as far as plotts go the version you gave is the story I go w/ as it seems to be the most creditable.. German type hog hunting dogs line bred in the US south for big game, mostly Bear and then hog.. I like Kemmer Curr or Black Mouth Curr Plott crosses the best and that is what I would have again if I had scent type dogs.. C.J.

Plotts are off of imported Bavarian Hounds in the early 1800 line breed for big game in the North Carolina mountains by the Plott family, they are NOT a mix.. Mostly bred for Hogs and Bear.. As far a yotes in the Northern states they can get up to 90lbs but for the most part they are under 45-50lbs, where I live 25-35lbs is normal.. So for me 30lbs dog or two is fine but up north that size dog would be a snack...

Speaking of breeding Cleo the BMC whelped 2 nights ago, I am not sure how many she had but she was bred to Rocks Stitch so the pups should be KILLERS for sure.. If I go up there soon I will bring you one back w/ me.. Christian J.

Good wright up, Call me when you get back from Loomis and I will come out then to pick up the lurcher.. Glad to see it looks like Cookie will work for you and cant wait for a lurcher off of her!! I will try to call you today.. Christian J.

Kenya is a 1/2 cross, Gwen is a 3/4 stag 1/4 Airedale.. I will look for some more pics for you.. I really like the Airedale lurchers and am getting a 1/2grey, 1/4bull, 1/4 Airedale next month.. C.J.

Jackson, Tim after Pete left and took half the nutria Pete and Lucy (jagd and the dam of my pup Ripley) First lamped Nutria I know of... Got this one w/ the lurchers only at midnight... Kenya and Gwen Tammy and Josh w/ their JRT, Mojo & Dottie Nick w/ Radish Radish in ground killing a baby before she went back for its friends ... Dottie entering a second sett and baying hard!! Mojo working the Nutria wile I looked past him to see what was happening.. When we pulled Mojo to dig out the bank again and the nutria bolted, BAD idea for him.

22 nutria today and 1 opossum!!! I will get pictures on tomorrow it is late.. There were 2 JRT, 3 Patts, 1 Jagd, 2 Airedale cross Lurchers, plus a couple of pups to watch the fun... I will be going again on Thursday and then the weekend after next.. The land owner said he has a dozen properties that have just as may Nutria so I think we have all the game we can handle for a bit.... Had 2 new bees and 2 started dogs really fire up today and it was fun to watch!!!!! C.J.

I have hunted w/ a Airedale/Staghound w/ terriers and she was a good gyp and real good w/ the terriers and also has a couple of yotes under her belt.. Some of the litter is used as running catch dogs for hogs and one is working real well on Bear.. In the AD/Stag litters there was a lot of variety (size) so I think it depends on the pup as far as how fast it will be in the long run.. My friend also just picked up a 3/4 Stag X 1/4 AD and it looks like a mini dear hound, I am going hunting next week with him and look forward to seeing the new dog in action.. After terrier hunting in the mornin

I know a guy in Idaho w/ Airedale 1/4, 3/4 Stag cross pups that are 8 months... P.M. me for more info..

I have been looking at the ortovox transmitter and receiver and a pieps receiver.. My friend uses it and he likes it a lot. Transmitters are cheaper but the receiver is about the same as the B&F I think..

Looking good, What type of locater do you use?

someone who likes walking in the countryside, normally have beards and glasses, imagine a university lecturer from the 1970's. above goes for the women too. partial to stopping and staring at anyone with a dog, gun or both usually equipped with camera and notebook Its different here, it is his land as far as you can see.. Plus people keep to them selfs, or would stop to help.. Almost everyone I know in Eastern Oregon hunts every chance they get, it is the #1 pass time.. Christian J.

My offer stands for true for anyone to come and work Badger, there are just to many for me and my young dogs.. I may also be moving to Canada for a year after the summer so this is a limited time thing.. I may come back in the fall for a hunt as the furs are top quality by then and are about $100per pelt.. When I am in Canada I will be working Coyotes/Badger/Fox and would like to try one of these Wheatons... Y.I.S. Christian J.

Good looking pup Dan.. I hope he works out for you... Christian J.

This is a pic of it.. The 148 badger were taken off of 3500 acres of the 70,000 he says there must be over 1000 total on his property.. I am going over next month to help him w/ his problem.. If we cant find a Wheaton I will take a Black Mouth Cur to a tiny Game Pit then take them to a good sized Fell or Jagd... But like Rolly said why do all the mixing if there is a breed that will do what we want.. I would also like to invite anyone to come out here to Oregon with your dogs and hunt all the badger you can stand... Christian J.

Will the ferret locater collar work with the Deben LTF, as I have one of those for terrier work.. C.J.

I am new to Ferrets and was wondering if a locater is necessary? C.J.

In todays social climate I think it is better to tuck our tails and let the antis win. :wallbash: If some people were making bad posts BAN them, seems simple to me.. This just shows lack of commitment to me and a defeatist attitude.. I work bulldogs so do my friends and the "social climate" will not change that.. Respectfully, C.J.
