  1. Id wait a couple of months mate to be safe but i dont think you will get to use him on your jills this year a couple of months and it will be september and with the longer night the jills will come out of season themselves

thanks one has been in season but she was brought out by another hobblet, she normaly comes back in around august the other is the mother of my 11 kits fathered by my now jaffa hob.

  2. I have just had one of my hobs vasectamised, all the vet said was to feed him as normal i will give him some rest but how long will it be before all the live baby gravy is gone, when can be used to bring my jills out of season.

how long should i rest him?

  3. I have noticed that some people use bright yellow, pink, red ect nets does the colour of the purse ne not matter then?

as i was told to try and match the colours i .e hemp is a good autom colour white is a good snow colour

  4. I have been looking at buying day old chicks to feed along with rabbit ect as I’m running low on rabbit. Due to having 15 ferrets to feed 4 adults and 11 babies. But then I got to thinking how much goodness can there be in a day old chicks, as the chick it's self has not had time to develop any proper bones or meat. So its just an egg with fluff, Well I went to the Kent show and my Mrs (Lou) said why don't you ask in the chicken breeders tent, I replied your asking the wrong people thinking there all green peace hippies that live and let live. How WRONG I was Lou comes back and says you need to speak to him (the owner of most the birds) after a quick chat it turns out he grows his cockerels to around 2-3 weeks and then culls them. I ask what he dose with them, he drives them to a zoo. I asked if there is any chance of buying any. He gives me his email and we leave it at that. When I get home I email him and the replies is, come round and collect some so I tip up and talk about fresh there still clucking in a pen. He says I take it you want them dead. Yes please I don’t want 10 birds in the car putting feathers every where >His next question was, are you squeamish I just had a little giggle to myself No mate I reply. after we cull them he says I have some hens a mate dropped off but they where in a bad way so I knock on the head are they any good yes my ferrets don't mind what sex they are. I ask how much for the lot nothing he says and if you email me around once a week or every two weeks you can have some more. These are not big rooster s they are small bantam size, perfect.

  6. Looks great , BUT the white pipe you have is that the fleable pipe used to let the heat out of a tumble dryer ? only reason i ask is i used one in side my hutch and my ferrets soon ripped it and could climb in and out of the extra holes they made and if yours do the same you new found rabbiting partners will be gone

I use to love it but i bacame ill and had 2 years off sick on full pay resulting in a Heart Transplant how many civvie firms would have payed me full wack for 2 years? Only down side now is as I'm the only one, or at least the first one as far as I know, to have a heart transplat and still serve. I'm not aloud to do anything. never mind life goes on

If I was to take my ferrets in with me at 0800hrs in a cat carrier would they be ok with water till the after noon so I could go ferreting straight after work on these days, This will only be when the season starts so should be cooler,

    Cheers Fergie

  12. Well I went out yesterday with the wife, air rifle and my top of the range single barrel £5 12g we got to one of my shoots and the mrs is going to shoot the air rifle she takes 2 rabbits in the first 15 minutes the first at around 20 yrds the second at a good 45-50 yrds (cracking shot but don't tell her) any way I thought to myself that’s not firing all that well, upon looking I realize the air cylinder is nearly empty. After getting the third degree of I told you to fill it up it’s your fault and me wishing I hadn't taken her along. I get the 12g out I only brought it along as I hadn't fired it since I bought it about a month or two ago.

anyway we walk around one of my fields for about an hour and it gets its first kill then its 2nd 3rd, I then suggest we go through the woods see if I can bag a squirrel or two but didn't see a single one we start to walk back to the car back through the same field and get a couple more end tally was 5 to the 12g and 2 to the air rifle

    100_1090.jpg

So what's the background on a £5 Shotgun?

It sounds like you have either got the deal of the century or a deathtrap??

it belonged to my game shooting club but as there attached to the army, this and two sbs's where kept in the Armoury on the barracks. Well the armoury said they had to go as there was no longer any space for them and instead of it being handed in to the police i bought it for £5 as a gun to sling around my shoots.
  13. Hi

Well I'm new-ish to the shotgun hunting I shot all last game season on my game shoot which is 99% Pheasant I was using no5 32g (2.7mm) are these too much for just a walk about for rabbits, pigeons and squirrel they do say special pigeon game on them.

Although I don't know what this special pigeon game is lol (thought I would say it before someone else)

    Cheers Fergie

PS these are coutryways own carts

  15. then start with setting your scope up at 10 yds.

if its a .22 it should be the same zero for 10yrds as its is for 35 or 30 i can't rember which

if its a .177 if you zero at 13yrds its the same zero at 35yrds

by the same i mean you should not have to alter your scope as ther yave a first and second zero due to the pellet traveling in a ark

  16. My grandad has discovered a HUGE mice infestation under his shed, and has already trapped a few. Wondered if they are Ok for ferrets to eat because there are loads of them!

Obviously im not gonna feed them posioned ones, Its the spring powered conventional traps being used.

It's most probably what they would eat in the wild, how do you know there not poisoned because mice usually take the posion back to the nest?

i know they arn't poisoned because no poison has been used. sorry if that was a bit unclear ;)

I think what he means is how you know the neighbours aren’t using poisons as not all poisons act straight away and the carry some back to the nest

  17. I asked on vet-medic.com about Panacur Dog/Cat Wormer 10% Liquid 100ml and they said it was ok to use at the kitten dose (adjusted to the ferrets weight) but said it was not licensed for ferrets and I could try this Ferret Wormer I was just wondering if any one had tried it and if it was ok or should I stick to the Panacur

I have never wormed any of my ferrets before and i don't think they have worms it was more of a prevention than any thing

  18. I dont have a court (yet!) but in my hutch shavings are useless. I put them in the food area in the evening and when I go out in the morning then they are all gone! and the sleeping compartement is full! It is annoying but she has stopped a bit now. I think it may have been something to do with the kits and nest building. but she used loads!

Has she got enough bedding s if she hasn't got enough she will get what there is to keep her and the kitts warm
