  1. i used ti tye proffesionally and have decided to get back into it, ive got some kit together but nothing teribly usefull so far(not even got the ingredients for a greenwells glory!) so has anyone got any kit for sale ?
  2. heres 2 wild hampshire Avon browns and a fine sea trout ,all taken on 'hovis fly'(the seatrout was just shy of 5lb.)
  3. ive had success with both mthods,but spinning is by far easier and depths reached in fast water surpass the fly,i would highly recomend trying small brass Devon minnows.

  12. the sack method has worked fine for me on the kings sedge-moor drain,as for cooking them ive always been keen in them just staked and fried,i like to fry them with a bit of home cured bacon and served with toast and a mug of tea!

  14. in days of yore along the somerset drains many an eel supper was had ,and some would even save up their eels on a wooden barrel full of water til they had a hundred or so,then they would be sold to the eel men from the smoke. although night lines worked well they were limited in the number of fish they could catch as one hook would only catch one eel! and so another method was employed,an old hessian sack was found,it was stuffed with straw or hay and in the middle of it would be rabbit innerds or any other bait available some times chicken bones.The bag was then weighted down with a coupl

Apon entering the next hall ,my heart was racing! another bowyer,this time a lady bowyer and her husband and their mate the traditional fletcher,the bowyer was actually making a long bow out of elm as we spoke,she also showed be a mongolian style bow,made by her using traditional methods,the wooden core was covered in deer sinews that had been beaten and then applied layer after layer using hoof glue.once completed this bow isnt ready to use for 1 whole year! as it takes that long for the sinews to dry and cure. after a short amble amongst the jostling crowds of eager shoppers i found an
  18. i was a little disappointed that there was sod all in the way of catapult venders,heres a poor selection and in fact the only stall selling them!(mental note ....Buffalo catapults needs a stall next year!) The next display had the kids all excited,it was the wessex bird of prey stand,there was about a dozen owls and raptors sat on perches wondering what the fcuck was going on! Yesterday was Sunday and it was the day for my family and i to attend the game fair.now with 4 kids a day out is a military operation! . coolbox ready and off we went,only living 20 minutes from shepton mallet there was no time for the customary chorus of "are we there yet?!!" The weather was dry but as it had been raining for a couple of days the grass parking area was a quagmire after a blag we were directed to the disabled parking area right next to the entrance.   20. the sellers EBay name is "eggtraps" . i bought a juby trap from him,its duff and don't work,but ime not overly fussed as it will just go on the wall,i left semi negative feedback as the service was excellent but the trap wasn't as described .when the feedback was left i have received numerous malicious emails from him. so be warned don't do business with this guy!
