Wild Camping, Hiking, Back pack, Tent talk, Mini camper etc.......
fireman replied to hawki's topic in General Talk
Hope you wild campers take a little spade and bury your shit, nothing worse than either standing in human shit or your dog troughing into it and if you don't get it fecking sorted... ''' -
Just be careful it don't drop in if your running it about without a locator collar unless you know it's afraid of the dark or a ten min wonder, most of us who have owned terriers have had it happen to us mate and just a heads up sort of thing....

No i don't have any birds at the moment FD,i did make a concrete pad to build another aviary on but the eldest step son has a border line binge drinking problem so i built him a gym shed on it to keep him out the pub. One day though as i do so miss them and seeing others birds and aviaries is the next best thing but it's not the same as having your own..

To be honest the tool i use most of all is a mattock, from digging to mixing up in a barrow( you never pull your guts out no matter how full the barrow is) the mattock is the first tool i reach for and it's much lighter than the sharptooth.....

Just went looking for some old pics of my mixed aviary but could only really find these in a old thread, but was a sizable space at about 12x12 with a 6x4 shed and another 6x3 flight off of that and that gave the birds the space they and their young needed to get along and do so well together. Some goldies, greenies, redpolls and the odd canary hen along with some young goldie mules (might even be a greenie mule in there but photobucket have sort of ruined the pics..But i hope you get what can be done to those asking about mixed aviaries..

and best of luck with the operation bud and let us know how your doing...

I have had goldies, greenies and red polls all in the same aviary along with a pair of chaffies but it was a big aviary with a 6x4 shed sort of in the middle with the back end cut out so the birds could all mix in if they wanted to but i found the chaffies kept one bit there's,i did also have room to have a few canary hens to take the pressure off any native hens from over zelous cock birds. One thing i didn't ever try was having bullies in with other types as i have heard plenty of horror stories with them in with other birds but really plenty of all sorts of nesting pans in all sorts of place

I almost refuse to use pine sleepers and will do my utter best to talk the customer round to oak ones instead as the extra price for a oak sleeper the years and years extra life they give you it's stupid to use pine imo.Still it's down to the customer but oak is best.. ...

Iv'e had a sharp tooth for a few years now but have never used to to dig to a terrier with,my russell bitch is a ten min wonder and she has a nack of getting them to bolt so haven't dug to a terrier since i lost my old plummer bitch.I do use it regular at work though and it's a brilliant tool and i can't believe more ground workers don't have one..
-
One of these if not the best tool i have ever got as a groundworker is a sharptooth fork and as i'm 57 years old a game changer when it comes to digging these days..

I'd say your feeders are in the wrong place and are better out in the open away from cover where a cat etc could ambush them as such, chaffies usualy feed under a feeder on spilt seed rather than on a feeder like a goldy will do,,

Woodhill is a cat A with plenty of short termers and even a YP wing and have you ever been to prison mc?, as unless you have you know nothing about how it works in there as it's feck all like folk think it is so to be honest i know it hasn't stopped you in the past but sometimes better to say feck all when you know feck all about the subject in hand..

He's got 42 years min to searve, what sort of deal can he ask for?, he'll do his time on the numbers and maybe someone sometime might get to him but all this he'll get done in jail is bollocks 99,9% of the time. Most jails are full of short term prisoners and no one will give up 15 years to do the right thing just like 99.95 of us on here wouldn't unless it was our child that died.We all like to think we would hang him but you wouldn't as you don't want to do the time for it,he's sentanced and don't have to talk to any police until he's released and that ain't happening soon so no hits will be c

I own my own boat and i can go out in any weather no problems,i cannot how ever go out and drop the anchor and stay in one spot without getting green gills and even the calmest of days i suffer. I take Stugeron 15 from Boots and there about £3 something and they make the difference but take them half hour before leaving shore, they can make you a little drouzy but i'd rather feel like that than head over the side of the boat...

Anyone with a stream ,can't be arsed to go down the local with the village idiots all pissed up and the kids are gaming so have told me to find one yourself the little twats..

I used to have greenfinches, goldfinches, redpolls and a pair of chaffinches all in the same aviary,i have a few canary hens in there to take any pressure off the native hens through over zealous cock birds and never had a single fight. Plenty of hanging feeders and water bottles and more than one big bird bath so no hogging of spaces by anything and when i do start up again that's the way i'll be doing it again along with the scaff netting i had fixed along the top so i could drop it on cold windy wet days..
-
A wonderful little bird with a very underated song imo and a wonderful offer indeed...
-
That as it goes is a good sight to see these days and one you don't see to often...

Brookie is Tyson's cousin and Brookie don't speak, act or behave in the same way tyson does, a total gent of a man when i spent an night on the lamp in his company some years ago, would be good to hear from him again for sure...

External nest pans give you easier access for ringing etc and don't take up space inside the cage, i myself have never used artificial lights but these days with tech being like it is i'd say there's plenty who have used them to good effect..

Felt is meant to have a little sag in it,so any water that maybe gets in runs away, with tight felt it sits on the rafters and over time will penetrate the nail holes as it can't go any where else unless it gets soaked up in the batton resulting in rotten battons. That's the correct way to lay on felt francie and that like someone used to say is a FACT mate...
-
Felts to tight,..it should have a little sag so if any water gets in it runs down the felt rather than run along the batton and in through the nail holes..Not picking fault just saying mate ...

The older Rangers are mazda's so decent enough but you will kill one if you treat it like a Hilux, past i think 09 there made by Ford and are.... Fords, also the 12 - 15 plates are known for oil pump problems, same engine as the transit that had the same problem but transits were recalled but the rangers weren't..

As it goes it's against the law in the UK to have a dog in harness on the highway ..
