  1. Pretty much all the ones iv'e known have shown guarding, looking after the owner and his family traits, there not really a defensive nervy type dog,in fact a very forward dog /But you do have to get on top of the guarding bit as they live to guard you and without it it could become a issue, i personaly like a dog a stranger couldn't get hold of and a dog who'll stand in front of you should you ever need it to..
  2. The best deer for sport and eating, easy prey on the normal arable but put them on flooded water meadows and your'll see why they have the word "water" in their names mate. They skim across it when the dogs do what all 4 legs do in water they go into slow motion and have to plough through it, many a time iv'e heard lads say "that's dead" and a few seconds later there's yards gained and chuck in a dyke a few reeds and turn like a hare can do and away it's gone. Me and a pal a few years back were hitting them quite hard and were taking 3 figure numbers each season and my acd bitch had probebly
  3. Glad you took no malice in what i wrote as it was written without malice mate and your parents were right in the way they meant it to live a life by......
  4. Iv'e walk a field with John and have to agree he ain't shy on how long a slip is, once rescued his dogs from the old bill when he got lifted out with a pal of mine, once i turned up we outnumbered them and the gamekeeper didn't want to know ,so i chucked the dogs in my motor and drove off before there back up arrived.......
  5. Cracking fish for the young lad and well done him, but bit strong of you to knock his front tooth out for out fishing you mate..
  6. Iv'e a old boy who lives opposite me in a arse end of no where Norfolk village and he has a ramp up in his shed/workshop and i'd rather take my motors to him than the big car workshop/MOT/sprayers etc a mile up the road. Anything that costs good money he comes over and asks me first if i want to spend that sort of money, a priceless man to know and he's saved my arse a few times over the years and as back street as you can get and as Norfolk as you can get, wouldn't go any where else...
  7. Like i say and no offence meant by it but your not a coursing man, your a man who runs his dog to kill hares..Not being rude mate it's a fact and you say it so yourself , fare play your thing but it ain't coursing it's just killing hares with a dog..
  8. Being brainwashed does that to a child...
  9. Was at a coursing cup meet many years ago over Evesham way i think and a lot of Hares were being killed as the running ground needed cutting and the slipper who was Gary Kelly started giving Sally a good few more yards on the slip and although more were still being caught a good few made the coursing more than a run up and a kill...Mchull and that lot aren't coursers there hare killers nothing more and feck all to do with the sport of Hare coursing.....

  16. Just saying bud and nothing really to do about this job,but i'm a ground worker along with other duties working for a building firm but a sharptooth fork has made a great difference to my digging life and i got one for a xmas pressy a few years ago for use with my terriers and as my russell gets them to bolt iv'e only used it at work and it's a brilliant tool to own and one i always have in the van..

  18. Many years ago i saw a collie that had been bitten and didn't know it'd be bitten by a Adder until it was in the vets waiting to see the vet and another chap in there said "that's been bitten by a Adder"as his dog had been before, the collie had a head the size of a football and we'd thought it had been hit by a car.The vet gave the same verdict and gave the dog a few jabs of what i can't remember but the dog was sore for a day or two but recovered totally.. Good luck with it Tony...

  21. I'll add that transport and the money to travel has played it's part as the old days were as far as a man could walk or his horse could so localized breeding was all there was and only when tribes met either in peace or conflict would the different cur types of dogs were mixed and bred into maybe what we have today as such. Totaly with you on what you've written and myself was mixed up and wrong about the time latin was used as a written log of the world..
  22. Terriers were called curs before they were called terriers ,hence the phrase to cur tail when you had to pay taxes on dogs except small dogs and to show this they cut the tails off them and the habit of docking small dogs has stuck. Latin came along when christianity spread.as that's the written language they used and there were small dogs used for hunting and vermin control way before then..
  23. Terriers were first bred as general vermin dogs and maybe used underground on badger because you can eat him and wear his coat i'd say fox control only came along with terriers as mankind settled and started to farm that bit more intensly and were used to protect livestock .Using terrier just for sport rather than a need to came along as life and leasure time got easier in general for man kind,...
  24. One a keeper pal of mine found and i got it mounted for him,,feck knows why it's on it's side though..
