  1. Well done. Decent night out. When we are out shooting large numbers from the back of the landrover, we have a protocol that means the lamper keeps the lamp on the target until the picker-upper gets the to kill zone. It tends to help a bit, but it also depends on how many folk you shoot with. When specifically targeting numbers, we go out with at least three. Driver, shooter , lamper... With the lamper and shooter standing in the back tub of the 110. We also take the dog with us, that can of course find with her nose, rather than her eyes.. You will also be amazed how many of them get
  2. Out last night lamping with neighbour and the HMR. Had a better night shooting (thankfully) Have 24 on the garage floor waiting to go in freezer and we 'lost' another 10 or so due to the crop height. Didnt even use a box of ammo!! Why is it you can see em OK to shoot of the top of the Vitara but they become 'invisible' when you walk out to collect em! Perhaps need to go to specsavers lol
  3. I am blond mate just hadnt thought of that one!! Cat Crap it is then!!!! Shooting wasnt that bad I guess 17 picked up and in your freezer, Pete recons we 'lost' another 6 or 7 so 24 in total for 35 rounds. Not my usual high standard I admit but wont get me in the olympics this time round eh!
  4. Scopes are dry nitrogen filled when new but over time the o'rings perish a bit and moisture gets in. As matt and tom suggest, you need to let it warm up and dry out. The biggest problem I get on a cold night is my breath fogging up the scope and my glasses. The scope is brand new and the fogging is on the external of the front lens, goes with a wipe but is bloody anoying and make it harder to see!!
  5. Was out last night with a mate rabbit shooting using his 17HMR Shot like a plum but such is life I guess! Noticed a couple of times the the picture thro the scope was less clear than normal due to fogging / mist on the lenses. Just wondered what do people do to try to help eliminate it? We shoot off the top of his Vitara so the gun is exposed to the elements for quite long periods.
  6. Small for me mate cant be doing with ferts disturbing nets! Saying that most do because of the bloody collars / locators. Disadavantage with the MK3M collar over the MK3 is the bulk of ithe MK3M the MK3 was quite 'sleek'
  7. Like rocking horse shite mate...........................no such thing! Just called the Dodson & Horrell shop in Ringstead. Dodson & Horrell ferret food £25.65 / 15kg Goldline ferret food £20. / 15kg I asked what the difference was of these 2 and was told 'none mate made the same both by Dodson & Horrell'
  8. Subject keeps cropping up and always the same answers. No Problem Have done this for years myself
  9. I asked a friend who has over 40 years experience as a gunsmith the following question. 'Which make of .17HMR to get' His reply was BRUNO or in other words CZ American / Varmint The only thing that needs doing, in my opinion, is to fit a trigger kit. (Rimfire magic for £10 + about a 15 min job) When done it transforms the gun.
  10. Nice one mate Fist saw the title and thought bit late for that cos of rising sap. Watched vid and your first comment said it all !!
  11. I thought that but remms cycle better than horns in mine. I rang CCI in USA couple of weeks ago re the 'plastic' in the ballastic tips. Was told they supply the bullets for quite a few ammo manufacturers. There is no difference in the plastic or the bullets supplied. The only thing they couldnt comment on was the powder types each brand uses.
  12. Take a look here http://www.knifebargains.co.uk/ Something for all pockets I recon! Just one piece of advice (some may not agree) dont get a knife with a part serrated blade! I have one and it is shite!!!
  13. yep 99% of them gut shot (not me i must add) , most end up at the game dealer or ferret grub as for the hares , well i thought they where some sort of mutant rabbits All that time changing the scope and zeroing to shoot a 10p group at 100yds and he still gut shoots em? I dont feel quite so bad now when I go out :whistling:
  14. Some nice looking knives thats for sure but at them prices I wouldnt dare take it out with me!!!
  15. I know someone who did it was OK. Still the firewater on its own is an 'aquired taste' thats for sure
  16. Game 'seasons' !! Hare cant be sold March - July
  17. Bound to get some 'comments' :whistling:
  18. Have to agree here but Opinel. Again cheap enough to lose and take a good edge. Seems a lot on here also go for massive blades! Unless your doing deer then a 3" (max) blade is perfectly good enough!
  19. any good offroad? They are not too bad although admittedly they are never gonna be a defender. so if your talking proper off roading it may be ambitious but should do the job for most lamping situations ie fields /tracks etc Can only agree with this. Most of us want a 'lamping' motor fields tracks as you say. Any '4WD' will cope with this its just the real bad bits that will bw a problem.
  20. any good offroad? Not sure will ask a mate who has done some 'research' As for 'offroad' how bad is it going to get? http://www.youtube.c...h?v=-lV3LNtCUkk If its gonna be used in serious off road conditions few are brilliant. My neighbour has a Suzuki Vitara 3 door and has converted it into a lamping waggon. It goes through all sorts and he got it for about £500 (bargain)
  21. Aske a gunsmith mate this very same question and got this reply.. Go for a CZ452 American / varmint Got one off him for a mate real bargain. Fitted a trigger kit and its the dogs gonads!!
  22. Diesel Nissan XTrail Fuel consumption (urban)30.7 mpg Fuel consumption (extra urban)47.1 mpg Fuel consumption (combined)39.2 mpg
  23. Have to agree with this. Know 2 people who have CZ452 and have shot both with and without the trigger kit. Believe me its the best £10 you will spend on the rifle.
