  1. Was always told that Jeyes was not good for pets because of the phenol content!
  2. Not sure where they got the prices of the rifles from! My mate got me a CZ452 American for way under £300
  3. I have an 'old' Titan Manitou in .22 would never get rid its a great rifle! Parts are available and if you want to know anything about them call John Bowkett he designed and worked on these at the start!!
  4. Our 'football' team aint got pride in how they play for the country let alone play and wear a poppy!! Not many sing the nation anthem at the start ffs, pride! More pride in a bag of flour!!!
  5. Plenty of hares this way have shot quite a few! Also had over 55 foxes in about 4 weeks earlier this year with the 223
  6. Have to say I had my last lot of ferts in an old shed. Had lined the walls and put 2" polystyrene in the voids and under the floor where they bedded down! They had hay or shredded paper for the nest, they were always cosy Still loved to get out in the run tho and play in the cold. Water bottle was in shed as well and covered with bubble wrap, as has been said its the spouts that then freeze co they are metal!!
  7. Opinel, in carbon steel, are the best value folding knives available. If you fancy a fixed blade then it has to be the Mora. Both knives hold great edges and are cheap enough to carry all the time without fear of losing them
  8. Found this tonight may be helpful to some? http://forum.downsizer.net/viewtopic.php?t=23111&start=0
  9. Exactly the way I do it pal, shears???!! I was taught to do this from the age of 10 by my great aunt it is, as we both seem to know, so simple to dress a rabbit with a small (3" max blade) knife. Shears axes and the like just splinter bone! One thing I dont want in me rabbit pie or stew is bits of bone!!
  10. OPINEL if its just for rabbits you cant really go wrong! Failing that any lock knife with a short blade that holds a good edge. Lots on here in all price brackets http://www.knifebargains.co.uk No point, in my opinion, of spending loads on a knife for rabbiting! One thing to def avoid is a blade with a part serrated edge If you really want to go 'fixed blade' then you cant beat a Mora
  11. Mate if you were closer I would come show you how to do it with the lock knife its so simple and a 1 tool job!
  12. Why the need for axes cleavers or shears for dressing a rabbit!! I have only every used a sharp lock knife! This can be used for paunching when out in the field and to dress the rabbit at home. To remove the feet you just have to run round the skin at the joint and then twist em off! Same for the head, once you got the skin that far, just nick the flesh to the spine twist to break at joint then cut thro with the knife! All the jointing can be done using the knife as well its just so so simple!
  13. Carbon blade Opinel with a locking blade. check out http://www.outdoorgb.../opinel_knives/ At around £7 cheap enough to lose Take a good edge. Easy fit in a pocket No point, in my opinion, of using a 'fixed blade' knife for rabbits and really no need to use anything with a blade longer than 3". Its a rabbit not a deer!
  14. There is no such thing as a good political party Labour Conservative LibDem all the lot are in it for themselves. They all know what we want them to stand for when touting for our votes and all have a way of making it right for everyone. We vote them in then they say f**k it throw away the ideas they had and do exactly as they like!
  15. Pheasants are around £30 to shoot on a 'paid for day' but game dealers pay less than £1 a brace for the dead birds! We get £1 for frozen rabbits £3 for hares and 40p for pigeons only cost on them is the ammo! Mind that is getting more expensive every trip to the shop!! Have given up ferreting so the rifle is the only way I got that I can keep the numbers down with and keep my permissions!
  16. typical response from a shooter im all right jack f**k everyone else so much to all hunters sticking together I wouldn't bum your gums to quick since theres another thread going where some folk find it ok to throw there hares in the ditch and piss off home with a smile on there f*****g face.... Mate at £3.00 each I look for all the hares I shoot, makes up for the few rabbits we miss
  17. Some quite 'typical responses' from dog owners as well! As soon as anyone on here mentions shooting hares dog men go apeshit cos they think its their god given right to run em with lurchers.
  18. If I am not mistaken are not buzzards protected like all birds of prey? Its also a bit of a no no to point a gun at someone! There is however a law passed in 2005 that made hare coursing illegal !!! Nowt illegal about shooting hares.
  19. Those 'quotes' were not from books mate but from a guy whos family have farmed round this way for way over years!!! Wont stop me rounding em up with the HMR tho to keep the numbers down and stop the 'wandering dog' brigade!!!
  20. Recover!!! ffs I recon over 20 on 20 acres is a plague! Seem to remember being told by an old farmer something along the lines of. 2 rabbits eat as much as a hare, 5 hares eat as much as a sheep, 3 sheep eat as much as a cow. also 10 rabbits eat as much as a sheep but only convert it into a quarter of the meat.
  21. After the last night we went shooting rabbits on one field of about 15 - 20 acres we counted 22 hares! Gonna ask if we can 'thin em out' could put 15 in freezer still leave a few and get us £45 from the game dealer!!
  22. Loads on land we lamp for rabbits with the HMR May have to thin em out at £3 each!!!
  23. Do a check! Pot Perm is on the pre-cursors list and requires a Home Office licence now.
  24. Let face it England (rugby) were just the same as England (football) they just aint got it when it matters most, simple!!!!!
