  4. Before you start to spend your money on fancy products, Try your local butchers or better still wholesale butchers to see what he does with his left overs(chicken carcass, meaty bones etc...) The lad i get mine off puts them through a mincer and bags them for me. I have found this to be the more favourable and less expensive way of feeding my dogs. Mine also get veg and whole grain brown rice now and again. I supplement there diet with SA37 and cod liver oil. What ever bunnies they catch they are fed those, gutted with there jackets off whole.
  5. My sons JRTxPatt is becoming more fearful of gun shot sounds. She has got to the stage of when she hears a shot her tail is down and wants to make a run for it. She was working well bushing and flushing for my two running dogs, but now the team is falling apart. Just wondering has anyone tried one of these CDs. Dont want to give up on the terrier as she is a cracking little worker(was) Any other info on how to overcome this problem will be greatly welcome
  6. Never posted any pics for a while so here goes
  7. I work shifts which is ideal for me and my dogs. When im on 6-2pm the father-in-law takes them out in the morning for an hour. When i get back from work after 2pm I take them out for a good couple of hours free running with the terrier. When im on 2-10pm once the kids have gone to school im out with them for a good couple of hours. The Mrs takes them out in the afternoon. This is through the weeks routine. On Saturdays they are out a good 3 hours and Sunday not as far kind of like a day of rest(usually feeling rough of the night before) During summer months when its hot "which isnt that often"
  8. Vet did a scraping and gave her the all clear. Going keep her away again from the fields and bushes for a couple of weeks to see if it clears up. Will keep you informed what happens Thanks for all the advice
  9. My terrier started to chew her skin on her back around 4-5 weeks ago. I have taken her to the vets and he said it is not a mite/flea or worm problem. He puts it down to her running around in corn/wheat fields which is irritating her skin. He prescribed a 2 week course of steroid tablets and said to keep her away from the fields and see if it clears up, which it did in a fashion. Got up this morning and she has been chewing again. She has always been fed on raw meat/veg and wholegrain rice so nothing has been changed in her diet. Is there any lotions or creams to cure itchy/irritating ski
  10. Kick around the bushes with your foot. The dog will soon grasp that you want it to have a closer look. I have found with the terriers that i have had that they learn quickly to go a little but further to investigate. Once they realise there is something in there, then there is no turning back. Good luck

  19. Had this problem with my dog. Mother-in-law jammed it in the car boot(clumsy cow) vet ended up amputating 1" off. As socks says use a piece of old hose or as i used was a small fizzy pop bottle with the bottom cut off. Looks rather stupid but it works......
  20. Im running a Saluki/Grey X Grey/Deer/Whippet. This is my 1st running dog(always been into terriers) so i would say he has done all right for me so far. Bags of energy and stamina. This season he will be 3 yrs old. The only fault i have got with him he can be a little head strong...For a 27" dog he can get about in quite small fields on short runs, and really excells on bigger quarry on longer runs :whistling: Here are a couple of pics These two are from last season 2 yrs old
  21. 1st pic is when i first got him at 8 weeks (Grey/Collie/Deer/Whippet) Doesnt time fly he is now 10 months and standing 24" tts There is something in there I think this is what they were looking for
  22. Planning on going out tomorrow with the dogs & the kids. Usually go to Ingram valley (magnificent place) Must have a river or lake for the kids and be fairly quiet, Open to suggestions. Thanks
