sometimes even dogs with the best blood lines dont work, if your dog works well it is probably worth the gamble. After all it is a gamble every time you breed whatever the blood lines. You cant guarantee a worker form every pup just do the best worker to worker.

just my opinion but breeding is the most important part of puppy selection. Thats not to say that a dog out of non working parents will not work but has a higher (considerably) failure rate. 20 odd years ago a mate of mine got a terrier of a neighbour as dog was too much for them to handle breeding unknown dog went on to be a excellent earth dog and threw some good pups with a very high percentage of them coming good. breeding was unknown so it could have come from good working stock but will never know.

lucky i had the same decision to make 10 years ago i took my dog to my local vet and he told me a similar thing. I was told that i would have to have the dog done by 2 1/2 years old. Luckily i moved house before that time and signed up with another vet (luckily this one had his head screwed on right and kept ferrets etc and knew his stuf) and he advised me that just because my dogs balls had not dropped and were still in his stomach he would not necessarily get cancer but i was advised to keep checking the size and shape (by feeling) to make sure that nothing had changed. I hav e always used an old 5p piece (shilling) this normally give a good size tail done at 1-2 days old. I think the saying rule of thumb goes back to when you were allowed to beat your mrs with a stick as long as it was no thicker than your thumb. Could be wrong i was once before back in 1980

depends what you mean by 'nosy at game' take em and let em see what the crack is as soon as they can keep up without being a burden obviously only let em look at a dead un until they are mature enough (each pup will be different) but let em see what it is all about as soon as poss. but everyone has different ways this is one way which works for me. also helps em get used to being outside hole without barking their heads off as this annoys the fcuk out of me.

been asked by ratter/hound to put this up. he has had his dogs nicked again (4th time) the b*****ds are on tape with balaclava's breaking into his kennels. the wankers shot his german shepherd guard dog which was in the kennel block pretecting the pens. everyone had better beware round that and all areas. here is a list of dogs taken LB or LL if you could put the word round where it is that you do, it would be appreciated. 1. black patterdale, male entire, nuttall bred with A7 tattooed in left ear 2. white and sandy pitbull, bitch, pink nose 3. black lurcher greyhound/german sheph
