  1. hi alimac, just seen your post, for your interest i know the lad has everyone and there granny trying to catch up with this hound. cheers.
  2. For the benefit of anyone considering using this guy and his pack i can vouch for him and his hounds, iv been out several times with him over the years and have no hesitation in passing on work/ground that i cant cope with myself as i'm very small scale compared to him, iv had my fingers burnt in the past recomending people who let you down but no hesitation with this guy, his hounds are very steady, they know there job and do it well, hope it works out for you and your hounds, it will be a crying shame if it comes to you having to pack in, hope you get kitted up, ill spread the word and hope
  3. just seen on liams hunting forum a hound has been found and taken to a vets, someone has posted a pic and some details about it, if anyone's lost one recently its worth a look, im sure it was only posted yesterday, its on the hunting with hounds section. cheers zippo.
  4. hi i keep and work bassets to fox, bloody good fun they are, hell of a nose on them but give them an inch they will take a yard. i wouldn't change them for anything but im fortunate to have alot of ground where boundaries aren't too much of a problem. mine are the working strain not the show type, got originally in the hope that fences and walls etc would stop them or at least slow them down so as not to make me too un popular with neighbouring farmers/ landowners. dont get bassets on the strength of a wall or fence stopping them! joking aside they work there socks off and live for it. i hav
  5. sorry i dont have any photos to offer, but i love looking in this section, and whilst looking tonight at some of the bird photos a thought entered my head, which i thought id mention. in the past ive been in situations during the day when i had need to squeek for a stoat, or on summers evenings whilst still light, for a fox.it just occured to me that the ammount of small birds that come for a look, might make for a decent picture, for those of you who carry the camera, dont get me wrong, id hate to be held responsible if you try it and it doesn't work because i can remember plenty of occasio
  6. just for your interest alimac i watched over the wear about mid morning today, i was there about 40 mins and never saw a fish, i go every year and watch, admittedly it is early enough but i was shocked. as the day went on iv never seen as many people fishing, they were shoulder to shoulder on some parts, i heard of one bloke catching 5, and plenty others catching all over the place, still i doubt you'd swap the day you had on friday. cheers zippo.
  7. cheers alimac, im pleased you had a good day, i had other reports of decent fishing yesterday from further up, im only 5 mins from the bridge so if i can help in future just shout. i seem to be getting the bug for salmon fishing, i must get my name down i can always say no if the timing's wrong, from what i can gather the list is as long as my arm so im not hopefull. cheers zippo.
  8. yes mackem, there's no shortage of fish, it's been said that they are getting well up this year sooner than previous years due to the rain wev'e had, its worked out well but i suppose that depends on where you fish, round here ive heard one or two moaning about them going straight through, you cant please everyone.
  9. just giving you the latest on the weather down here, so far its stayed dry, i think we must of had a shower through the night but nothing to talk about, i use xc weather on the net when i have need to check the weather, ive just looked at it and i reckon you could have a cracking day tomorrow, its not forecasting anymore rain. if i can get down tomorrow ill hopefully see you catch something. good luck. zippo.
  10. no problem, it looks like we could get a touch rain tonight/tomorrow, i get the impression it could be all or nothing, ill update tomorrow at some point, like i say im not a fisherman myself but i know one or two who fish the tyne who would be honest enough when i ask them, like i say ill try to be of some help but bare with me.
  11. hello alimac, im in hexham and the tyne should be good on friday so long as we dont get too much more rain. my pal caught a seatrout yesterday and later on in the day a salmon was taken from the same pool, this is above the hexham bridge. im no fisherman so you might get a more detailed roport from the profesionals, hope this helps and good luck for friday. i dont think were going to get too much more rain. cheers zippo.
  12. bowderdale i hope you dont mind me adding this but i thought as ive been out with you and your pack, i would say to anyone who is interested in the pups even those of you who are not sure of the distance, go for it, the parents put my hounds to shame and i wont have a wrong thing said about my hounds, they knew there job well and were as good as gold not only when working but even while standing around waiting for guns to get in place they never tried it on, you wont be disapointed when they get going. if anyone had the patience to go through the records from last season, thats if you can go s
  13. hello moggs, sorry i cant help you from my own experience but i would try the same question in lurchers, running dogs & hound section as ive read odd times about nick valentine and his pack of griffon vendeen's and other people from this site have been hunting with them. i have english bassets and work fox with them they are good fun not as slow as you think but at times can be head strong, i imagine vendeens will be similar although every picture ive seen of nick valentine's hounds you can see they worship the ground he walks on. not much help im affraid but i think the hound section will
  14. i was lucky enough to be invited out with bowderdale and his hounds last sunday, a day i wont forget for a long time, when he says they did 300 yds in a matter of seconds, hes not joking, im still aching now, trying to keep up with him never mind his hounds. they are a credit to you, keep up the good work. all the best steve
  15. thanks for your reply, i look forward to reading more in future.
