Whilst I appreciate that the timing of events at a Game Fair is always likely to slip due to unforeseen circumstances, would it be possible to give an indication of the planned timings of the various events at the show & also of the rabbit hunt & horn blowing competition? After all, those coming from a distance could well be disappointed to miss, or have to miss, those events in which they were most interested. In that connection, I note that the morning trains from Swansea on the Saturday arrive at Builth Road (½ a mile away) at 6.46, 10.43 & 11.23 whilst on Sunday the first

Which evening (Saturday 14th or Sunday 15th) is Nick Valentine bringing his Ryeford Chase Griffon Vendéen Bassets for the rabbit hunt after the Show? Or is it on both evenings? Also which evening is the horn blowing competition?

Topper, Dunster Country Fair (not to be confused with the Dunster Show) is, of course a lovely event & there will be very many hounds there & it will include the usual excitement (& occasional confusion) of the Five Couple Class. I certainly intend to be there. The problem is that the visiting Americans will be staying on the Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire border so the journey time for them would be a lot more than 1½ hours you suggest as the distance is over 175 miles via the Severn Bridge which would suggest that even with so much of the journey on the M4 & M5 the jo

Towy & Cothi, I have not heard whether my friends came to your show as they have not been in email or telephone contact since &, since the cousin/host’s name is Jones & she lives in SW Wales, there is not much help to be had from the telephone directory website. In fact, I suspect they will not have gone as they will only have arrived in Wales the day before the Show. They were planning to be at the Royal Welsh this week (which is why I did not mention it in my original post). No doubt they will have a chance to speak to people on one or other of the sporting stands to fi

Friends from America are visiting cousins in South West Wales & will be there until just after the end of the month. Unfortunately, I am based on the other side of the Bristol Channel & therefore not really in touch with the Welsh hunting & shows scene. Ideally, they would like to attend a hound show while they are there, but Peterborough, Dunster & Honiton are really too far away. I have told them about the Towy & Cothi Hound Show this coming Saturday, 17th July, at Rhandirmwyn Show Field near Llandovery, but they may not have recovered from the flight by then.

Of the 6 fell packs I can only definitely help over the Blencathra, which according to its website is meeting at Keswick Market Square at 10 a.m. In the past, the Eskdale & Ennerdale usually met at the Eskdale Kennels at 9.30 a.m. & the Melbreak at Bridge End, Lorton at 10a.m. I am afraid, I cannot help over the Coniston, the Lunesdale, or the Ullswater, still less the three affiliated packs: the North Lonsdale, the North Pennine, and the Wensleydale.

It is possible to find out where many packs of Foxhounds are meeting this Boxing Day by going to the MFHA website (or through the CA one). The relevant link to the MFHA site is:- http://www.mfha.org.uk/images/stories/pdf/...y_meets_002.pdf The list is far from complete as it omits both the Quorn (!) & the South Notts, though it does list the Belvoir as at St. Peter's Hill, Grantham. Unfortunately no similar list seems to be available for either Staghounds or Beagles. I believe there is also a list, though even less complete, on the Country Life Website
