Gotta love this topic, lol just sitting down with a something to eat & drink & like a mug decided to read this page hahaha Like ladydogtrainer said you can do this yourself with some tissue & a strong stomach & i personally hate going to the vets but sometimes the vets a must lol ( they gotta come in handy for something )

I am sure there must be afew people on here who can recommend drugs they have used for inflamations on there dogs? But i know if you goto the vets they will probably give you Rimadyl which is a NSAID Non Steriodal Anti Inflamatory drug, but you do have to be careful with this on long term use & also if your dog is elderly or has had any liver problems but its good stuff just very strong. You could also do a google search or search on here under anti inflamatory drugs or something along those lines & find out what people have used before. Good luck mate & Hope the dogs g

I think people have allready hit the nail on the head in the fact that i know no other better way than introducing a dog to water than letting it be around water with dogs that happily go in as then it would just or should become natural especially when curiousity hits & they see the other dogs having fun in it. My oldest dog used to watch a lab who loved to swim & everyday he would just stand at the edges barking but i never pushed him in then one day after a couple of weeks he just jumped in then as all my other dogs came after him they just saw him in it & threw thereselves

good for you taking the dog & just be careful as she is a big dog other than that as others have said just take your time & let the dog come to you, be calm & consistant in everything you do with her & she will come around. When you say snappy exactly what did she do? What she like with other dogs? do you have other dogs as it will be quicker for all if she lives with the others & watches how the house in run.. Just take your time & allways air on the side of caution, & if you are worried about her behaviour go & have her evaulated by a good known profes

Line Breeding Explained
richard25 replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Its a fascinating subject & i think some get lost with all the jargon/bs words & it starts to get confusing. Line breeding though although we speak in scientific terms really for the breeder all this means is homing in on the specific traits your looking for & creating that "special line" that we all want When you talk of breeding mother to son etc then were getting into inbreeding & homing in & making those drives more pronounced to think of a better word but at the same time any bad genes may get pronounced too so that should diffiniatly be left to the experts &am -
Generally they do abit of both ( typical police hahahaha ) For certain fields & areas where they really need to specialise they may go to a german or dutch breeder who has dogs that have allready done some work & have a title like Mondio Ring etc & they may pay quite abit of money for them. On the other hand they regulary go to shelters when they get a call from a kennel hand there saying there maybe a dog there interested in ie a highly strung high engergy dog that in most pet homes just ends up a problem dog. So you were both right...

That looks bloody lovely mate, you got yourself a right spot there. I think from time to time everyone would benefit from some time in the woods like others have mentioned you cannot buy that peace & quite for love nor money, the sad thing is its hard to find a nice place like that these days where you can have alittle fire & just chill out, i cant tell you the last time i have been able to do that in england & find myself allways going on the long but beautiful trip upto Scotland where Wild Camping is Allowed & nature still rules the forest lol. Dam i wish there were m

Do you know what type of Duck they are??? as that could give you a estimate into how many eggs you can expect a year & if they are truly a egg bird or a dinner table bird. Other than that i would say ducks are a load of fun to have, they are great & keeping down all the insects in the garden & have a real funny character ( there like a english penguin hahahaha ) My two chase the dogs away from what they class as there territory & they allways come over for alittle attention. Good luck & let us know how it goes with them.

First of all good luck with the pup, he sounds a cracker. But statements like this about bull breeds in general is a bloody joke. i like the look of him hows he bred Hi Steve, he's a bitza. Sire was 3/4 grey and 1/4 whippet. Dam was 1/2 grey,1/4 collie,1/8 whippet and 1/8 deerhound. So predominantly grey with just about everything else that you could stuff in with the exception of saluki and bull. Didn't want any bull in him as I used to own an English bull and now have young kids and since he lives indoors didn't want to take any risks. How do you know your not tak

Veterinary Research Centres

Cheers Hippychick Called them allready too but they dont seem to care to much... I just think its quite odd that none of these organisations want to look into this to find oout what the feck is going on as even the lady owner of the dog is willing to pay to get the water samples sent off but no one seems to want to find out whats going on. Personally if i did not know the woman & her dog i would say stop smoking but its the real deal & something rather odd is happening, she is going back down to cornwall on friday from London just to get this water lol Woman hey lol Any -
ok a funny story here but totally true & i need alittle advice on who to contact. A friend of mine has a two year old Mastiff that has hip dysplasia & keeps having ligament problems etc, now god knows how much money she has spent on this dog, well anyway a couple of weeks ago she took Rufus for a camping trip down to Cornwall by a stream well while there he drank from the stream & she noticed he was starting to move around abit & by the time they left a couple of days later he was as she put it lol "running like red rum" which sadly in his whole life so far she said sh

I guess it must be where you all live & so on as i live in London but i regulary go out all of hertfordshire & Essex where my partner is from & i personally find it basically impossible & when i do really try & speak to the landowners i get the regular thanks but no thanks, I only wish ii had the availability some of you guys do... Obviously me living in London makes it nearly impossible anyway as there aint much farm land around here but i travel over herts & Essex pretty much every night of the week & see alot of the landowners quite alot but i just dont seem

Desensitization CD(loud bangs)
richard25 replied to DEKAW's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
You could do some positive reinforcement work like you firing the gun at a fair distance & you kids can give the dog small bits of his favourite treats & have the dog on the lead at this point, then just close the distance depending on how quick the dog starts giving the desired behaviour. Good luck. -
Priceless lol Thats the one good thing a poor working class fella like me can say is my dogs could not be brought for a million quid on the other hand though i do have a nice ish type Mrs who i will gladly sell to the highest bidder & i will even deliver her lol

Cheers mate, not alot of people appreciate a little spaniel but he has some noise on him & never rest for a minute & honestly he is probably been the most hard work out of the bunch & is the leader of the pack lol no joke the spaniel rules the house

Yea your not wrong about the food but its all the little bits that go with it, vets, supplements like oils etc a feckin joke sometimes but i would not want it anyother way... I started a new diet for the on the weekend, its called cyofd ( catch your own feckin dinner lol ) no not really i started with that frozen Natures menu tripe as they seem pretty decent so i'll see how it goes with that & its not bad on the pocket either, about a tenner a day for the lot of them.

As you can tell i am no whizz with the camera but i will try & take some decent pics soon, & i wanted to add some old pics as the pack used to be bigger with two english mastiffs but sadly in the last year both have passed...

lol mackem, i knew you would reply, your like a bull to a red rag, you wer'nt the one releasing them in the late 70's were you?????? So what do you think ate that sheep???
-
Sorry to hear about losing the sheep mate, & you said how many you lost feck me thats alot. I dont see how a dog could do this & if it was it would need a pack of dogs & you would think being the distance you are from the field you would hear something... So sceptics what do you think could have done it?
-
lol I know i am right by there too... I might have to do some local night hunting with the dogs there.... I will feel sorry for the dogs though! Oh On a sidenote what about the scottish wild cat? i atleast take it you believe in thoughs? would these be the most rare cat in the world??? maybe

I feel like i am becoming the Big cat super fan here trying to tell everyone there is big cats lol i must have got abit carried away. I am be far no means a big cat person & to be honest i am canine lover personally & cats generally dont like me? but i just refuse to rule it out & i feel like i am defending them or something lol who gives a feck, i dont care that much i just have an interest in if there here or not Who knows???? Mackem when you say you checked all the websites about uk big cats proof although there is no crystal clear fotage i think it would be fair to point out Over the years there have been cats killed :- 1989 - In Shropshire a Jungle Cat was fatally injured in a road crash 1988 - In Devon a Leopard Cat was shot 1988 - In Hampshire a Swamp Cat was killed crossing a road 1987 - On the Isle of Wight a Leopard Cat was shot and also several skulls & parts of skeletons found all around the UK some even residing now in the Natural history museum. Oh & to the p

I know what can i say, i dont need to convince anyone & who knows, i dont care that much its just an interesting subject, but again like i said previously if you were a passionate big cat person & you found a colony of wild big cats would you tell anyone & risk future problems for them???? I personally think this might be the case for some people but again "who knows" its just fascinating to think of though & is it unreasonable & unprecidented in the UK for finding non native animals.... Difiniatly Not! Mackem & All i would be interested to know your thoughts on th
