ANYONE SEEN THAT LIDL SUPERMARKET ARE SELLING AN I.R MONOCULAR, HANDHELD, FOR 109 QUID. YOU GET A 3 YR WARRENTY FROM LIDL AND SUPPOSEDLY 5 YR MANUFACTURER GUARUNTEE. IT LOOKS QUITE TIDY IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED. DONT KNOIW IF ITS LOCAL OFFER TO WEYMOUTH THOUGH. ALSO HAS A BUILT IN I.R LIGHT AND BATTERIES. IDAL FOR SPOTTING.

I would tend to agree, many of the tools mentioned so far here are not exactly light. 12 year olds are getting bigger these days but the last thing you want is his arms falling off after walking the fields for an hour or 2. The Lightening and S200 are good tools , check out the Gamo range as well (Gamo & BSA are more than a little in bed together these days). Lots of good second hand kit about as well. All this is still going to be a very personal choice, but I would suggest you stay away from the £30 full power precision hunting equipment complete with scope etc etc ...........M

Who says you got to walk miles!? Whatever he feels comfortable shooting, keeping weight within certain sensible limits, he can have a pick of so many rifles. A meteor at 8 to 10 flbs is perfect for bunnies if you remember just one of the other rules of shooting live quarry, fieldcraft. A gunslip or sling keeps arms free and unstressed until you sight, then manouver yoself near enough to ready yoself for a kill. My 1st kill was at 5 yds w/ a meteor after a long crawl behind a bank and a shot through cover. took 1/2 hour to get it, with no other way about it, but its the shot I still recall now

Depends how close a hunter can get sam, dont forget field craft. BSA Meteor, 15 yds with open sights was how I started.

Let us know what you think. I've never shot a TX, though nearly bought one years ago. The thought of trying to load through that port on a dark windy night put me off as i did a lot of lamping then.

i have considered some of the hw models, but have heard they are not that good out of the box anymore, need to be stripped, rough surfaces smoothed down, polished regreased and put back together, even heard that some needed new springs straight away as the std ones looked like they were cut by a blind man with a sledge hammer, certainly different from the hw77 i had many years ago, the tx is the one for me, pro-sport is a little expensive as the new rifle is goin to be a xmas pressie off the good lady wife cheers guys Sounds like HW need a bit of customer feed back. I had a HW 97K when they first came out, and that was about the same weight as the TX. Very accurate as the weight helps to soak up recoil energy, one hole group at 40 yds, but if you want to travel and carry your bag home on foot (assuming your not target shooting) it is a helluva weight, especially with lamp attached. The BSA however is very light and the carbine barrel means you should be saying bye to the pellet before recoil has shifted your aim point too much. could be your jill had a fantom pregnancy so she would have thought she was up the duff and behaved that way to. This often happens if the are mated with a sterile hob as a way of bringing them off season, as they will remain on heat for ages and so are prone to infections.

Morning all. A quick hello, as I'm new to the site. An ex-tractor driver now living in the town for family reasons, I still possess my old shotgun and superten and enjoy archery and seafishing. Also considering buying a lurcher pup to work so any advice welcome.
