  2. Cant be sure if i've seen a Ghost or not. I do a lot of nigh sea trout fishing, so i've been out and about at the right time for ghosts! On one occasion i was cycling to the river and i saw my neighbour in the field checking his fence line, (he was a farmer) it was only when cycling back home i remembered he'd died three months earlier. Was it his brother cheking the fence??? Secondly i said to good evening (in Welsh) to an old Gentleman wearing a flat cap and carrying a walking stick, he was there one minute, gone the next! On neither occasion was i particularly scared, more a feeling of "wha
  3. I've managed a sea trout and a salmon in the same day three time in 29 years of angling. 2 of those three occasions were on consecutive days!Salmon and i dont seem to get on with the way i used to, personally i think its too do with fewer salmon running rather than my lack of angling skills..... 4. I managed a sea trout, brown trout and rainbow trout in the same day in August 1993. Brown and sea trout was caught from the river Tywi at 5am, and the rainbow came from the Usk reservoir late afternoon, this was done by design. Did also by accident catch a brown rainbow and sea trout from the River Taff in Cardiff on October the 17th 2002. Tight Lines Aled
  5. Nice one Tote. I managed one on the worm at the end of May, have not had a touch since! Runs aint wat they used to be on the Tywi any more either. Tight Lines Aled
  6. Thats sacralige longdogrunner, no wonder you cried, one of the tastiest birds around!! I'm no expert oloftgere but on shoots that i used to beat on, i always saw dog workers pick up woodcock from the game cart and hold in front of the dog, and encouraged the dog to smell it. Thats all i can add i'm afraid. Cheers Aled
  7. Spending time with wife and son come number one however..... I also enjoy fly fishing especially for se atrout, or sewin as we call em here, also tie my own flies. Rough and air rifle shooting in winter. Just retired from playing rugby so am now the 1st aid and committee man, also looking forward to watching a bit more. I love reading....a lot. Enjoy a couple of pints but nowhere near as much as i used to. Finally as we've been camping it up i thoroughly enjoy a double gin and tonic with ice and lemon at 9pm on Friday night, usually followed by another one . Unless i'm going fishing. Tight

  11. I did the same with a chicken chausser sauce, and the rabbit was just edible, but not exceptional, tried it with other cook in sauces such as curry, sweet and sour, and casserole mix and it was lovely. Maybe the mix of flavours does not suit rabbit meat?? Cheers Aled

  15. I had shoulder surgery on a dislocated shoulder (slightly different injury i know) in 1995 and since then it has been fine. I've been able to play rugby without any problems. Get it sorted the surgery now is even better than then. Good luck. Aled
  16. Salmon dont seem to get to my part of the Tywi as often as they used to however the odd one does arrive. Tomorrows the day. We've had some rain and the river is falling back nicely. Tight Lines Aled
  17. I'm one of the lucky ones as i have had a couple of doubles, best 13lb 9ozs. Chuffed with that one i could tell you. There are some sewin around in April, but give me a good flood in May and we can have great sport with fish from about 4lb up. These early fish are also the best eaters, they have blood red flesh and go really well with Hollandase sauce and early vegetables. Lovely. Fly at night is my passion. What about the Tyne? My wife is a teacher and farmers daughter she would not teach that. Crikey keep us posted i'm interested. Cheers Aled

  24. I'm a rugger bugger so i know quite a few of them who shoot and/or fish. Dean Richards, Sir Clive Woodward, Lawrence Dallalgio (England), Gareth Edwards, Scott Quinnell (Wales) Doddie Weir, Budge Poutney, Ian Smith (Scotland) Rob Wainwright has already been mentioned. With the exception of Ian Smith (although he may of as well) all have talked about their fieldsports in rugby, shooting or fishing magazines, on TV programmes, or pre match programmes. Finally one more cricketer Robert Croft, Glamorgan, England, and Wales enjoys both shooting and fishing. Give me time i'll probably
