  1. Good in parts, primary school was great until my final year which did eventually end! Secondary school academically not good, socially fine (i was in the upper part of the hierarchy, but not on the top but I am a very good diplomat!), few minor scrapes, forged an exam mark and got caught, told off for buying booze underage, didn't smoke until I'd left school (gave up many years ago) kind of just muddled through it! Had a summer job every summer from 14, played rugby, football and cricket, and did a lot of fishing. A bit of teenage romance along the way. I didn't mind going to school and being
  2. Back in my bachelor days i did have a television, but the amount of time i spent watching it was miniscule and that was sport, news and a few select programmes Countryfile for example (although i did enjoy Shameless!), there were other things to do during the evening and at the weekend, Monday was my "stay at home and do the house work evening" then during the others days depending on the time of year there would be rugby training Tues & Thurs (From July until April), pub quiz night, Wednesday (all year), Friday evening a few beers early doors, before book and bed as i had a rugby match
  3. Cracking pictures and dogs, Whats the cross of the dog in the first picture? Looks a good un.
  4. Great news wishing you well.
  5. Turned veg the patch over added a pile of this stuff with some wood ash. Forgot to say its the council compost made from recycled waste food.
  6. After i've decanted the sloe gin, i then add a bottle of sweet sherry to the sloes, gives a nice tasting drink for latter in the year. Cheers. Aled

    Clearing out

I've been given three lots of fishing gear some of which was destined for the skip, I've thankfully been able to give a pile of it away to youngsters in our angling club. Would a local club be able to use it? Cheers. Aled

  11. I turned the veg patch over before the big freeze came, which i think was a good move. Other than getting my daughter some seeds for Christmas (she wants to grow some veg herself this summer) that's it for the veg patch so far!!

    Chilly start

    Pretty snowy here as well.
  13. I hear where your coming from WataWalloper and i would agree with you in theory, however i know its not me or the wife, yep my offspring, possibly but unlikely, however if you knew my neighbours, (and i like them by the way) you would agree they would be the most likely culprits.....they also had a pile of people staying there over the weekend!! Vet said a stub would be enough.
  14. Well I've got a story for you now! My 8 years old dog scared the life out of me yesterday afternoon he was showing the following symptoms..... Lethargy/Drowsiness Wobbly, uncoordinated movements (ataxia) Dilated pupils and a glassy-eyed appearance Urinary incontinence (dribbling urine) Increased sensitivity to sound, light, or touch I got an appointment with the vet, vet took one look at the dog and said "he looks off his face" ,then asked me if there was any chance my dog had eaten .....Marijuana! (vet then said not
  15. I'm no expert at this guys, but in my home area after WW2 there was a shortage of dogs available, a local gamekeepers black lab was (unknown to him) put over all sorts of bitches to produce some good field sport related dogs including lurchers, and a lot of them turned out to be great pot fillers. Its a nice rural story if nothing else!

  17. Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda/Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. Cheers. Aled
  18. Must say social life for youngsters these days seem far less fun than ours. Back in my student/young Man days we all used to meet up in my home town on Christmas Eve, at 6pm drink a few beers, and get home by 11pm, (it was agreed that we all wanted to wake up at home on Christmas Day!) and on Boxing Day, meet to to see the hounds go at 11am, and then out until whenever things ended, however my Mam, was a clever soul, always dragged us home at 1pm, on Boxing Day, where we would drink water, eat a good lunch and have a few hours off the booze before heading back out again. Good Days! Cheer
  19. 4pm Christmas Eve, however not back until the 5th of January!
  20. Dan, Sending you and your family my condolences. Aled
  21. Excellent pictures, what a great sight a good bag of ferreted rabbit, working dogs and people enjoying the countryside. Wish there were more rabbits around here these days. Cheers. Aled
  22. Tinned soup: Fred J Taylor who wrote on cooking for Shooting Times, claimed that tinned chicken soup with rabbit pieces cooked on low temp made one of the best rabbit casseroles out there. Also, my Mamgu would use tinned soups to make all sorts of casseroles and stews. Cheers. Aled

    Lest we forget

All sorts of points of view on here but i'd like to add some personal comments. I was honoured and humbled today to present the Poppy Wreath on behalf of my community council at the memorial plaque in my home area, where the names of the fallen within my parish were read out. Family members fought and i still struggle to believe that my Grandcha Harold, one of the kindest and most gentle men i ever met held a gun and shot at people. So i will always say, "We will remember them" Cheers. Aled
