An easy and cost effective way to trap eels is with an old t-shirt, some straw and some fish guts or trimmings from the butchers. Tie the t-shirt sleeves and neck, stick a large weight (stones are good) some straw enough to fill out the shirt a bit, then chuck in yer offal and bits tie up the big end . Now slash some small holes about 1-1.5 inches with a knife all over shirt maybe about 10. Remeber to tie a rope to the shirt (mistake has been made) and throw into a decent river. Check next day.
