    Cheers for the replies, theres a few things for me to try there. Id thought nothing of it really but i thought he just seemed a bit dehydrated with his pee being so yellow and smelly. il give some of them a try anyway and keep an eye on him. Thanks again

    Hi all, ive got a Bedlington x Whippet pup, hes just coming up 7 month old, he's the picture of health, loves to run around and go mad etc but he just wont drink his water :S he loves his food and his water bowl is always full and with fresh water but he just doesnt touch it, he never has really since i got him, just odd times, even when he's hot and been running around. Ive tried it with a drop of milk in, lactose free milk etc but still no good. at the minute im just soaking his biscuits and leaving the excess water to try and get some in him that way. Because of this his pee looks like

    agree very much with Aled there. its one of the things that puts most people off the actual casting and for most people an instructor will always improve you as well as the various other tips youl pick up during the session.

    3/4...........i think i get easily confused by all the crosses and fractions. he was bred by a lad on here.

    Most people go for 'large arbour' fly reels now. theyre a bit bigger with a wider spool which gives you a few advantages. holds more backing, gives a quicker retreive and also the fly line tends to stay a bit straighter. it really depends what you want to spend on one they go from £15-20 all the way up. i still have a shakespear graflite among my reels that cost about £15, it does the job no problem.

    we get issued a 'biteback spray' at work to deter dogs. its a small high pressure aerosol, and it says natural oils, alcohol and propellant in it. its not harmful to animals or humans and smells of peppermint. Ive never used it though so i dont know how effective it is. but if they sell it it must work might be worth a try anyway, it sprays a good jet

    cheers for the input guys, at least i know im on the right lines now. Whenever he wants to sleep during the day he'l sleep fine in the cage, i leave the door open and he's happy with that, he goes in on his own and seems to like it in there. SJM, you brought up the bit i wasnt sure about. i was told do what you said tire him out, put him to bed with a drink and some food, cover the cage over so he feels safe and make his bed nice and comfy. The other bit i was told though was dont get up if he whines, ignore him. That seems a bit harsh, instinct tells you to get up and see he's ok but the

    sorry if this has been asked, ive tried the search but didnt come up with anything specific. Ive got a beddy/whippet pup, 8 weeks old and i want to get him used to living in a cage in the kitchen. ive tried him already and he whines all night, which i know is expected im just after some advice on the best approach to get him used to it.     For the price of them the Shakespeare Oddysey fly rod is very good value for money as a first rod, as tony says 9' to 9' 6" is ideal. If youre just after the bare basics i wouldnt spend a lot on a reel to start with as for most of the time all they are is something to hold the line, again shakespeare do some very cheap ones. the first line id buy would be a floater. For fly tying kits there are loads about now, beware of some they are full of a lot of materials you'd probably never use, again as tony says yorkshire game angling do some good kits.     could it not be that the collar was pinched between a tooth on the top and bottom, rather than two teeth on the same jaw if you see what i mean ? not doubting what youre saying, just being open minded

    youre not wrong there mate i can see it already in him he loves his teeth, tests everything with them,lol. on the other hand though for his age he seems really bright and very responsive. Plenty of patience and reading up as much as i can and hopefully he will turn out ok.

    Hi Tawny, its a combination of a few of the things you mention. A couple of months ago i lost my JRT, had him 13 years and the house is empty without a dog. I always fancied a bedlington whippet but could only have one dog at any one time. i had a great time with the jack russel when he was younger with rats etc and through the bushes, got some permission for rabbits now and usually go out with my mate, him with the air rifle, i prefer to do the lamping. So with all this in mind i thought a bedlington x whippet would be ideal for me, ive been told im only allowed a small dog itl only be

    Hi, first post hoping ive read the rules properly and not asking stupid questions ive been trying to find a bedlington x whippet pup with no luck at all ive asked about local the few people i know, checked local papers and then got pointed to this site. can anyone point me anywhere else i should be looking, and if anyone would like to give me any pointers on what to look for when getting a pup itd be much appreciated as this will be my first lurcher type dog.
