Another Great day away today got long nets which were good to use as not having to fix purse nets every couple of mins with ferrets passing threw they could roam about freely not getting tangled up in them.

I know but what’s the point. I’m just starting back after a lot of time away from it im going to make some mistakes. But I couldnt fkin believe it when that rabbit got up and ran away lol if you can’t laugh at yourself laugh at me. What a day lol

Another 3 today.. 2 made it threw the nets and 1 I broke its neck a tossed it down looked dead to me got up and ran minute later. No make that mistake again. Could have been doing with a long net missed a good few burrows because of over growth was loosing rabbits there too. Need to look out long nets now.

Sunday morning got 3 so was pleased with that smaller area think I could have gotten more but was working in afternoon so didn’t get finished will go back to same spot next week get the burrows I missed and do the ones we were in again.

Hi there as many of you know there has been a new law introduced in November 2024 regarding the use of dogs to hunt mammals in uk including rabbits and rats. Can anyone clarify what it means? Can you still have a Lurcher with you ferreting if the dog doesn’t kill the rabbit but catches it and brings it back for you to dispatch by hand? Can you still lamp rabbits if the dog bring them back alive and you dispatch them by hand?

Yeah unfortunately I’ve just started back at ferreting the his year and don’t have any older ferrets. I know a few a guys in my area but problem is if I take them with me il give away my secret spots. And I don’t want everyone turning up asking farmers I got permission on or just showing up without permission and farmer ends up just stopping it for me to.
