  1. Cheers for that, I was at a loss and to be fair I still am. It says bumping to often (chance would be fine thing!) but to my knowledge I have not bumped any topic unless my post asking for a stalking contact near Dorset is off in some way. So if which ever Mod did it would please explain the reason a little clearer I would appreciate it. Don't want to do it again, what ever "it" is. Thanks again. Pete.
  2. Could somebody please enlighten me as to what this recent addition below my profile means???? warn10% cheers, Pete.
  3. Hello All, Not posted for a while, quite simply because I have not been out. Its been a very difficult year so far so not really had the time/money or opportunity. But as they say, TISH happens and times change! and I am now in the fortunate position of getting a weeks sea fishing in Dorset (mid July). Staying in Fortuneswell to be precise and I would just like to know if anyone would be prepared to get me out stalking for a morning and or evening or even knows anyone I could contact. I am able to travel so anywhere within an hour or so drive would be great. I do not have my own rifle so an "
  4. Nicely done Mr. It's years since I've shot in the Dales but we used to regularly bag 20+ bunnies in a morning, that was with a mk 1 webley vulcan! Good bag and good luck with the roe. Pete.
  5. Cracking read and good shooting lads. Well done
  6. Some great footage there fella ! and well done on the buck. Pete.
  7. Well done Mark, good shooting and a good start to the season for you.
  8. It's all long since devoured fella and anyone that tried a bit wants more, "proper meat that is" If I'm lucky then the whole beast is coming home next time, I have had a word with a local butcher who said he will sort it so I dont get any wasted meat, Sausages as well !. Thinking about it, my old fella always says that you never see a good pork butcher sweeping his shop outward ! Regards, Pete.
  9. Prices aside, Good read and very well done. I am in the same boat with regards having to pay for any stalking but enjoy every second of it. It just shows the actual worth we attach to our sport. Good luck with your future plans. Pete.
  10. Thanks for that theobenmike, I will keep an eye on the magazine on ebay and also on the website. Regards, Pete.
  11. WANTED- Spare 400cc or 500cc Buddy bottle for Theoben mk1 rapid 7 also spare mag in .22. Fair price paid, will collect or pay postage. Cheers all, Pete.
  12. Thanks for the tip on bullet choice Kiwi, with regards the purity of the breed, I think I am correct in saying that all the wild boar in the UK are a result of escaping farm stock or deliberate releases of such stock by the do gooding, treehugging, mis informed eejits. I suspect that a certain amount of cross breeding with domestic stock will have occured at some point as well as some selective breeding of the original farmed stock. I agree that on the whole there seems to be some slight differences to the wild european and to be fair there seems to be quite a variety within the breed as a who
  13. Thanks to all for the possitive comments Ive had. Glad you enjoyed the read though I am sure there will have been a bit of poetic license in there somewhere. Could have rambled on for ages and I'm sure my guide for the outing is still pi**ing himself laughing from when I got ready to drill old brock as he came bumbling through the undergrowth at the edge of one of the woods, nearly saw the colour of adrenalin with that one, it was only a few yards away and in the pitch dark it sounded bigger!! With regards to cooking it Martin, it was bloody gorgeous and I have got to make arrangements to bri
  14. Nicely done there ! Well done.
  15. Nicely done Ian, good result.

  17. Well done Ian, Nice pics in the first part of your post but when the optics have got a crosshair it can produce an even better set of pics ! Spot on mate.
  18. Never mind Eddie, at least with the cameras you have set up you know what to expect. Better luck on your next outing fella, looks you have some fair sized beasties on your patch and I bet they wont evade you for long !
  19. Hope you got one Fella Due to travel distance the grunter was strung up in the barn within a few hours of being shot. It was skinned(in a fashion lol) and I took enough to fill my cool box, so had 1 front + back leg/shoulder and the loin off one side. Had to do it that way or drive all the back down for my share as I have no where to discretely and safely hang a full or half carcase. Missus turned her nose up at it but I wasnt too fussed, more for me, I had a seriously large portion of griddled loin with a few spuds and greens. To any one reading this who gets a chance of some wild boar, h
  20. Tell you what mate, I never realised the amount of damage those beasties can do, the farmers must be well pi**ed off at them. The meat is still a bit fresh yet but a lump of loin is getting cooked tonight.
  21. Spot on photo Ian. How much zoom was on ? Grand beasts and good luck if you get out after one.
  22. Its a belting night out Eddie, cant wait for the next outing, probably going to late summer/early Autumn now though. Lugging it about was no problem, 12v winch on bulkhead in back of the motor sorted it out a treat.
  23. Dont worry about the open land, avoid shooting at silly ranges and pick a spot with a good view of a particular warren that is on the edge of your ability/range, getting to the spot will send them scurrying for cover but sit tight and keep motionless in the firing position, so prone or seated if you have a while to wait,is best. So long as they have not been hammered recently they will come back out but you must be STILL. They do not associate the human silhouette with danger in the same way as perhaps the fox and so long as you are still you will bag a couple. 15-30 mins so get comfy and dont
  24. Packed up the car on Saturday and headed South to meet a meet a guy who said he could give me a chance of a boar or two if we were lucky. The long drive was well worth it to say the least. My guide turned out to be one of the nicest blokes I have ever met and after a few rounds on the range to get my eye in we sat down to a home cooked meal of wild boar bangers, bloody lovely too they were. We had a good natter until darkness was well upon us then packed up the 4x4 and made for the shooting areas. Now OK I have seen some pictures of what signs to look for but I was not prepared for the sight
  25. Cracking post and good results. Good pics btw! looks a nice spot you have there.
