  1. Cheers mate, Not too worried about stalking on this land yet, back to being a "probie" for a while. I know there are roe in the area, I have seen them over the last two seasons but they were a fair way from any decent cover so I guess they were either transient or very happy to be feeding a long way from cover, I doubt the latter although I may be wrong. I think more importantly is the ability to contribute more to forum and take a more active part in it's activities. In the early days of joining I was offered a look out on a couple of members permission bit it never happened. Hopefully now t
  2. Well, had a great day yesterday and never fired a shot. After nearly two years of trying I have finally secured some permission on land passed for FAC. A tad over 800 acres on the first farm with another farm to visit of which I would estimate another 500 acres (I have to call in next week to get my form signed for this one). Not much cover and only signed off for vermin species so far but a lot of pigeon and rabbits. Reckon a .22 rimmy and a shotty will do just fine for now. This opens up a miriad of oportunities and I am over the moon. This is land in the North East and I have also been ask
  3. That is good going Ian, any sign of mixie ?
  4. Hi everyone, Has anybody got any idea what I should expect to pay for the valve replacing/referb on a buddy bottle and where from for the best price?. I have one that has started leaking badly. I have de-pressurised it and cleaned it as best I can and the ball bearing appears to be seated properly (but obviously isn't). I rang my local divers centre but they don't want to touch it. Any info greatly appreciated. Regards, Pete.
  5. Well done mate, it is a fantastic buzz being out on a stalk and even better when you get one! well done again Regards, Pete
  6. Hi there, Not been over for a year or so now, but about a year ago I was in Lautert and the surrounding area had a fair boar population. Unfortunately I was over on business, ruddy work gets in the way of everything!! so no shooting but he area looked great, you certainly have some good grounds over there.
  7. lol, NO OFFICER! I said I was only sucking his tick. btw, smart set up Martin

  9. Any of you lads and lasses interested in koi carp? My friend is moving and wants to sell the contents of his "pond" it contains many koi and golden orfe as well as others that I do not recognise. He is willing to sell the whole lot together or in smaller lots. There has been in excess of 100 fish stocked. Koi look to range from 30 to 50/60cm I have priced a few up on the internet and was astounded at the cost of these fish so there is real chance to get a bargain. If you are interested please drop me line and I will arrange a visit. Genuine interest only as I am listing this as a favour but do
  10. Nice one, very well done. Regards, Pete
  11. Hi Mick, Sorry for the late reply, the one in the picture a UK boar, the subject of my thread "my first boar(sow)" although I have been promised an outing in Croatia later this summer. Regards, Pete.
  12. Nicely done fella, that's a fine size of beastie. Did you get to eat any of your spoils??
  13. Nice read fella, I bet nearly every one that reads your post will be able to relate to how you were feeling. Reckon a pint for remmy wont go amiss and well done to to him for taking you out, you're in a very fortunate position there be sure to make the most it, money can't buy that kind of mentoring. That's you hooked well and truly!
  14. Nicely done! a good write up too, well done.
  15. Waterproof polyprop sheeting. Supplied to me as a sample, clean and unused but not needed and will be skipped, so free if it is of use to you. It is approx 4ft wide, folded double and rolled(so roll is actually 2ft wide) Not sure how much is on the roll as I don't want to unroll it all but I reckon there must be in excess of 20ft+ linear. Water proof coating to one side so loads of uses. Not very heavy but collect only. Forgot to add.. working in Bradford so can shove it in the boot if necessary. *************NOW TAKEN****************************
  16. Reckon you need to go a bit further back in history than that, foxdropper. Local's post makes a lot of sense and touches on the fact that many stalkers, through necessity have to pay to shoot. It will still only be a very small proportion of those stalkers who would be willing or could afford to pay £6k for a white roe!. I have to admit that aside from a bit of bunny bashing every bit of my shooting is paid for. I love every aspect of the sport but not from lack of trying I can not secure any suitable permission. Work coleagues and friends prefer watching football or peeing their money up ag
  17. Well done, nice buck there. That's you off to a flying start, hope you get a few more!
  18. looks like you had a very productive morning, well done. Just to mirror the other comments, with which I have to agree, the key word is "respect" I am sure you displayed great field craft and accuracy but we should at all times have great respect for our quarry both alive and dead and when a none shooter,or even a seasoned stalker sees a photo like that it is so easy for them to get the wrong idea. I am not having a pop at you, just my view. All the best, Pete
  19. Tremendous write up there bud, enjoyed it. A good result too, I would also be interesred in the cost/details if that's ok. pm?
  20. Blimey that's some harvest fella, good shooting. Is that is the whole cull quota that is organised at the back end of the season?, or just what's left of the quota at the back end of the season? either way there must be a fair number on the ground. Regards, Pete
  21. Brilliant result and a cracking read, well done fella.
  22. Nicely done fella! You can't even have a dump in peace eh? sounds worse than where I work, but the scenery looks a whole lot better!!
  23. Great read. A cracking part of Scotland, I was lucky enough to take a couple of Hinds when I stayed up that way a few Christmas' ago. Really enjoyed it although Graham.N (stalker) must have been half mountain goat, I think I left my lungs at the first lift! my full respect to you regular hill stalkers. Just read your other post too, another good read.
