Dominance issues within my pack
assassingirl replied to Tyla's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Just to add, there is never any aggression in our pack. one dog doesnt grumble at the other. at feeding times they are all expected to sit and they get to eat as their names are called, in order of their age. they are not posessive over toys or chews or catches (rabbits) they have never shown aggression to either of us. Many people have asked me how my dogs are so well trained and why dont they pull on the lead, or bark a lot. I like to think i run a tight ship. I expect perfect behaviour from them and if this isnt the case i will discipline as neccessary, regardless of the situation. -

hello all, I am the 'wife' in this situation. Since this post was originally written we havent had many incidents. About a month ago ollie had a go at parker in the car just before i got them out as I pushed parker further back into the boot, i believe ollie saw this as i was getting parker, and so should he, fortunately in this situation parker put him nicely in his place. Parker used to have a bit of a problem with meeting other male dogs out and about, but with training he is very good, not having any issues with male dogs for at least 1 and half years. So when this happened parker held ol -

Hello all, Went out for a mooch this morning with our pack and Herdwicks pack of lurchers and terriers. Pup is learning and watching what everyones job is and is very keen to get involved but she just stayed on the lead. This crappy weather means we're not doing too much with our dogs at the moment, not until the ground has softened a little, so they're all very keen for a morning's bushing time. Came home with one rabbit, which was more than we we're expecting as they are becoming few and far between on the land now, although new signs of them where they havent been seen before which

well, she wasn't actually ferreting, just watching, best way to learn IMO, she learnt to sit and wait and watch, just what parker does before he catches If you look on the pic of me crouched with her you can see she is on a lead, so not running around chasing anything, plus we werent putting nets up and down, so it was only 2hours we were out for. agree if she was walking for that long it would be too much for a 3month pup, but she just learnt to watch and be quiet. all valuable skills. we took parker out as soon as he had had his jabs and is brilliant ferreting. -
