You've pretty much weighed up the pro's and con's yourself. All personal preference, i've always used mesh but have mates that use bars with no problem. In regards to safety against theft, nothing is bulletproof, but if you're really worried about that aspect of things, get some cctv up and sensor alarms.

Defrosting the meat won't take all day in this weather. I stick it in a bucket of water at about tea time and it's defrosted for about 8 pm. Leaving it all day when it's real hot can make it go a bit off and smelly and attracts the flies.

Got to agree with Downsouth, even if it's a case of paying £20 extra a month who cares? If dogs really mean that much then it won't matter. What can you get with £20 nowadays? A takeaway? A crate of cans? A couple of boxes of fags?

There's no set amount, just play it by eye, if a dog starts to look overweight give it a bit less etc. I started feeding raw proper about 3 years ago and couldn't go back to just biscuit. The dogs thrive on it, they look healthy and shiny and maintain a good solid look even after a hard day. I still get biscuits just in case i forget to defrost the meat and the next morning there'll be about 5 shits in each pen and the water bowls are almost totally empty, that can't be good for them. I was feeding a mixture of chicken and beef but they seem to look better on tripe so that's what they get main

I keep my dogs outside, except as pups or after a hard days work, I often shower them after a day digging and bed them down in the dining room with some warm grub, I'm sure the warmth and bit of tlc helps and speeds up recovery. Besides that they seem happy to be outside in their own kennels.

Fair enough, were them two dogs the defining dogs that set off the 'Wheeler' type then? Was there any others from that era that would qualify?

I've never seen a nervous one if I'm honest but obviously haven't seen as many as you boys. Can I ask, what actually qualifies as a Wheeler bred dog? Is it anything that goes back to Charlie or Keith?
