  1. Thanks Rebel, and they’re just a line carried on from what a couple of mates have kept for many years?
  2. Sorry to go over it mate, I’m a bit thick! But would you say the lower the aperture the more blurry the background ? I’ve just had it on the aperture mode and it seems there’s 3 settings, 2.4, 3.8 and then 8.4 I think it was, so would the lowest number give me the desired effect, or is there more to it??
  3. Ok mate I’ll have a look, thanks for the advice, I do plan on getting a Canon or a Nikon but got the Fuji for real cheap so thought it would be worth a go.
  4. I’ve got a Fujifilm finepix s8200, I’m wanting to take pics of dogs out in the field where it basically focus’s on the dog and leaves the background blurry, my mate said it’s something to do with the Aperture? But despite looking on YouTube I can’t suss it out, any help from the camera experts on here will be appreciated. ??
  5. Prefer dogs but will be starting to phase the dogs out and keep bitches over time, what a ball ache it is when the bitches are in season, dogs howling and playing up 24/7 isn’t for me?
  6. You been watching a few episodes of Inspector Cluseau FD???
  7. You’ve misread the good old British sarcasm on that post I’d say, he’s not saying Gould has actually said them words.
  8. That bitch looks like the old McCoy stuff, same shape head, same jacket, big white blaze etc.
  9. I agree Apache but it can be a fine line, I feel over dogged during the Summer and then in the middle of the season I feel under dogged?
  10. How Deep I’ve never bred a litter from a bitch of my own so I’m in the same boat. My eldest dog has been over 2 bitches so that’s the closest I’ve come to breeding.
  11. Yes of course in my eyes they are, but I was more getting at other lads on here saying only breed from the best.
  12. I agree, but going by what’s getting said on here I should only breed off the older one?
  13. It’s personal opinion, I have a couple of dogs I rate highly, but the older one is my favourite. They’re both basically the same dog on paper. But 2 of my mates have always said they’d love a pup from the younger one. So who’s right, me or them?
  14. When I said average digging dog, I don’t mean it in any bad way, the dog is still being dug regular but his brother outshines him for some reason? You must surely see it in your own dogs? Say you have 2 or 3 digging dogs in your kennels now, I’ll bet you have a favourite but the others are still good at their job, it doesn’t mean you won’t breed from the others does it? Or put it another way, if you and your mate have 2 brothers, yours is the superstar and your mates is JUST a genuine, honest worker, but he is the best dog in your mates kennel, then surely he would use him over a bitch?
  15. But do they? Just because a dog is a world beater, never missed a beat type dog, doesn’t mean that he’ll re-produce himself. How many times has it been the case that the superstar from a litter produces bugger all and his brother who’s an honest average digging dog has produced worker after worker?
  16. Gone back on a promise, couldn’t word it any better on a dog that fails you after you’ve put your heart and soul into it.
  17. Only ever heard good about the dog, and certainly left his mark in some good kennels of digging dogs.
  18. It’s easy to get stuck in the same old routine of checking the same old earths and bypassing a nearby occupied and unknown earth! Fair play to the bitch??
  19. I don’t think a terrier that starts as a bayer is necessarily going to be a bayer all it’s life and not get bitten. With some it’s a confidence thing, they’re a bit standoffish at first but once they get that confidence going and get in the routine that they’re getting dug to and realise that the fox isn’t going to hurt them as much as they expected, then some can get a real love for it and will become harder over time and in some cases get a knack of killing them.
  20. Rat face, I think I’ve had this conversation before on here, but would you say a good rock dog is a failed digging dog? I’ve seen poor earth dogs be fox killers in bales, artificials etc as I think they feel more comfortable in the open air than underground in pitch blackness and in the fox’s proper home. An example I seen was a mate who had a dog he persevered with for a couple of seasons or more, but it was just an inconsistent failure in an earth, he gave it to some lads that worked rock earths and they had a 6 hour ‘do’ with it in some rocks the first week they had it and couldn
